Wise is one of the fastest growing Fintechs in the world and we’re on a mission to make money without borders a new norm
The Role

Company Description

Technical Product Manager - Data Analytics Platform.

Wise is one the fastest growing companies in Europe and we’re on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We’ve got 16 million customers across the globe and we’re growing. Fast.

Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply.

So, we’re building a new one.

Our mission is money without borders – instant, convenient, transparent and eventually free. We are building the world’s first true multi-currency banking infrastructure which is based on robust foundations that evolve as the needs of our business and users change. To achieve this, we think about our underlying platform as a product, taking into consideration the user needs and outcomes we want to achieve with each service.

This role is a unique opportunity to develop your product skills and technical knowledge at a significant scale. By building a platform that enables our engineers to deliver new features with high quality even faster, your contributions will have a major impact on Wise’s mission.

Platform is a broad domain covering data, compute, networking, CI/CD, SRE, developer experience and much more. We expect our Technical Product Managers to have a deep ownership of the roadmap, product, and strategy for their teams. You will be responsible for driving the full lifecycle of product development, from conception through to successful delivery. While your primary focus will be on ensuring the execution and alignment of one or two critical teams, you will also have the opportunity to broaden your impact by collaborating across the wider platform tribe, ensuring consistency, scalability, and innovation across our rapidly evolving tech stack.

We are looking for an Experienced Technical Product Manager who can develop a product strategy and mindset in our Analytics and Data Governance Teams. As a Technical Product Manager for Data you will be involved in:

Strategic Vision: You will own and drive the long-term strategy for our analytics platform, ensuring that it not only meets the current needs of the business but also anticipates and adapts to future challenges. Your efforts will ensure that our platform meets the evolving needs of the business, providing scalable and efficient data access to teams across the organisation.

Stakeholder Collaboration: You will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and data users across the organisation, ensuring their needs and feedback are integral to the platform's development. Your role will be pivotal in translating complex data requirements into actionable insights for your team.

Fostering a Data-Driven Culture: You will lead and influence the continuous improvement of our data repositories, setting the vision for a unified, high-quality data ecosystem that drives the adoption of data-driven practices across the organisation. Your efforts will drive the adoption of a data-driven mindset across the organisation.

Alignment, Prioritization, and Outcome Measurement: You will utilise OKRs and agile methodologies to align your team's efforts with the broader strategic goals of the data platform. By prioritising work that delivers the highest impact, you will ensure that the platform continuously evolves to meet the needs of the business, with measurable outcomes that demonstrate success.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing: You will work closely with other Product Managers, Engineering Leads, and technical teams to ensure that our platform integrates seamlessly with other systems and reduces dependencies. Your focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing will accelerate progress and drive innovation across the organisation.

Job Description

Here’s how you’ll be expected to contribute to our platform:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs of your stakeholders across the organisation, focusing on the analytics data lifecycle.

  • Define their problems and requirements, identifying common areas of concern/benefit and working with stakeholders to understand the impact of these areas.

  • Proactively identify, prioritise and execute on the workflows which automate tedious and repetitive tasks.

  • Collaborate with your engineering team to integrate with data discovery platforms, governance platforms, and analytics platforms.

  • Break down and prioritise tasks by quantifying cost and effort against the benefit to the business and your customers.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure your priority decisions align with the strategic goals of the database platform team.

  • Prioritise the development of self service capabilities to improve the user experience of our analytics platforms.

About you:

  • You have a passion for the entire product development lifecycle and a strong affinity for data.

  • You are comfortable working across a broad range of technical domains, from cloud offerings and cloud-native technologies to data engineering and analytics.

  • You are adept at understanding the trade-offs between different platform technologies, and can communicate these considerations clearly, with an awareness of their practical implications.

  • Comfortable collaborating with engineers and business users, with experience working with data engineering, analytics, or data science teams.

  • Familiarity with Looker and Superset or other BI Tools.

  • Enjoy deciphering complex domains and sharing that understanding.

  • Strong analytical skills, enabling you to navigate complex system-design challenges to find innovative solutions using both quantitative and qualitative information.

  • Creativity in problem-solving, with an understanding that the most complex solution isn't always the best.

  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for stakeholders at all levels.

  • Proficient in communicating your ideas, knowing when it's best to write, say, or show something.

  • Adaptability to the dynamic nature of teamwork in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to pivot to new priorities effectively.

  • Some extra skills that would set you apart:

  • Experience as a Data Product Owner

  • Some hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist or Analytics Engineer (or have some deep SQL experience)

  • Experience using or building data platform products.

  • Experience working with large-scale data, preferably with knowledge of OLAP Data Systems.

  • Experience with data cloud warehouses, ideally Snowflake or Presto/Trino.

  • Are comfortable using Python or SQL to do deep dives into data.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Never be bored: You'll get to work on an evolving set of problems, from internal developer experience to deeply technical infrastructure development.

  • Learn your path to impact - we believe people are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll work with your lead and teams around you to find your own route to impact the mission.

  • Work with experienced product managers, engineering leads, engineers and analysts to develop your skills at an enterprise scale
