Job Description

The Information Asset Search and Management Platform Owner will define the technology strategy and lead the technical delivery of the information and literature asset search, management, collaboration, and tutorial systems that help Vertex’s employees discover, organize, share and cite internal and external data and research in a self-service manner. This role will work closely with the Associate Director, Information Asset Management in Data & Engineering Governance to administer the platforms and ensure the systems support current and future needs and provide accurate reporting/analytics. Further, this role will define platform requirements, ensure solution quality, navigate milestones and challenges, manage platform vendor relationships, provide technical system support, and respond to feedback from end users.  

 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Become a trusted partner by understanding the business needs and vision to deliver technology solutions to support and enable the business goals and objectives  

  • Define, execute, and adapt the vision and strategy for the Information Asset Search and Management platform at Vertex across geographies, functions, and scientific disciplines 

  • Work with vendors and internal business partners to produce a product roadmap and rollout strategy  

  • Manage relationships with strategic software vendors and service providers as required 

  • Serve as Technical SME for enhancements, software upgrades, implementations, and integration projects providing product expertise and quality assurance, including leading technical design sessions, configuring the platform, conducting code reviews, managing testing, etc. 

  • Partner with Vertex users to understand processes, document, and manage business and technical requirements 

  • Build deep, cross-functional relationships within and across DTE (Data, Technology, and Engineering) 

  • Facilitate system related architectural reviews as needed 

  • Develop architecture requirements by identifying and analyzing business drivers  

  • Develop future state blueprints that meet strategic business objectives and ensure the appropriate level of quality 

  • Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for the Information Asset Search and Management platform, ensuring maximum uptime, high performance, and excellent customer service 

 

Knowledge and Skills:  

  • Experience with Literature Search and Management Platforms such as ReadCube in a scientific environment 

  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing and intranet technology 

  • Experience managing integrations with external SaaS solutions to streamline user experiences like single sign-on, personalization, and data sharing 

  • Experience leading and directing the work of teams in a highly matrixed environment 

  • Experience with running IT managed services or outsources/offshore teams 

  • Program/project management, demand management, resource management and system lifecycle expertise 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology discipline or equivalent
  • Typically requires 9 years relevant business systems in the Life Sciences industry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Hybrid-Eligible Or On-Site Eligible

Flex Eligibility Status:

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as: 
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
