Overview:

The Tech Owner role at Elanco plays a vital role, bridging the gap between product vision and technical execution. This position is responsible for leading technical implementations, ensuring the feasibility and quality of our digital products, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. 

Responsibilities:

  • Translating Product Vision into Technical Solutions: Work closely with Product Managers and Solution Architects to understand the product vision and translate it into a robust and scalable technical design. Ensure that technical decisions align with architectural direction, product strategy and roadmap. Emphasize hands-on, key-driven work to implement and refine technical solutions effectively.

  • Assessing Technical Feasibility: Evaluate the feasibility of different product ideas, considering the technical constraints and resources available. Identify potential roadblocks and propose alternative solutions. 

  • Design & Development: Design, build, test, and deploy complex Customer Master Data solutions across the full customer master scope, including Network, DMR, SAP, Azure, refresh jobs, and downstream data consumption (e.g., web, EKS customer master data), along with integrations (Veeva CRM, SAP, APIs) in collaboration with other product teams.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide estimates, clarify technical requirements, manage source code and configurations, create technical documentation, troubleshoot integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and mentor support teams.

  • Operational oversight: Coach support team on resolving incident and service requests and ensure continuous knowledge transfer.

  • Managing Technical Debt: Maintain awareness of existing technical debt and advocate for addressing it strategically. Work with the Product Manager to balance new feature development with efforts to improve the codebase and address technical issues.

  • Communicating Technical Challenges and Opportunities: Proactively communicate technical challenges and opportunities to product leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment on important technical decisions and to ensure that technical considerations are factored into product strategy and roadmap planning.

  • Team Leadership and Resource Management: Providing coaching and mentoring to team members, guiding their professional growth and development, even if not directly managing them.

  • Vendor Management: Overseeing vendor performance, ensuring alignment with expectations and outcomes, handling escalations, and offering strategic planning and direction.

  • Project and Product Planning: Contributing to roadmap development, creating risk management plans, documenting project timelines, and ensuring clear, detailed planning throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Attributes:

  • Deep Technical Expertise: Possess a strong command of relevant Customer Master data technologies and related platforms mainly Veeva Network ( SAP Master data, SAP CDC, SAP master data, Veeva CRM, Azure, Web). Hands-on experience in data querying e.g. SQL, Vault QL.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Adt at identifying and resolving complex technical problems, proposing creative solutions, and navigating through technical constraints.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand business goals, business process and align technical decisions with these objectives.

  • User Understanding: Recognize user behaviors, motivations, and pain points then incorporate their needs into solution designs that resonate.

  • Strong Thought Leadership and Proactivity: Demonstrates leadership by taking initiative, bringing forward ideas, contributing actively to discussions, and fostering proactive business relationships through effective relationship management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science or a related discipline

  • Experience in and agile product delivery

  • Demonstrated learning agility and desire to continue to acquire expertise in area of focus.

  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

  • Minimum 5-7 years IT experience in similar space

  • Preferred: Certifications such as NBOK, Scrum Master, Product Owner; Veeva and SAP-related certifications are also highly considered.
