The Role

We're looking for a Technical Operations Analyst to join our Technical Operations Management (TechOps) team.

You will join a team that is responsible for running and continuously improving the technology department’s operational processes. Operations that are part of the team’s remit range from onboarding new products into our trading strategies to how we respond to upgrades on exchange we trade on.

For all processes within the team’s remit, we oversee them end to end, work with leads to design them optimally, help in their execution, and evaluate our design against reality. You’ll continuously balance giving the right amount of flexibility so that engineers can be effective, with the right amount of control to achieve operational excellence and limit risk.

You’ll run projects to align operational processes across different regions. You’ll also identify and implement improvements, which you spot through independently performing deep dives.

The person we seek is to facilitate fast-paced innovation across the firm. In activities you coordinate, you are the connecting point between our software developers, trading support, compliance and risk functions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

In a nutshell, your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Work in tandem with trading, technology and control teams to drive critical cross-team projects from initial discussions through completion
  • Effectively run meetings where you discuss incidents, changes or planning with team leads. You'll challenge leads on emerging themes, patterns and risks
  • Work closely with the technology department to streamline our operational processes through reviews and deep dives. For example, you perform a review on whether our testing guidelines are consistently followed in practice
  • Identify upcoming technology upgrades at exchanges we trade on, and coordinate Optiver's response to those

WHO YOU ARE:

  • A computer science (or similar) degree, or a proven track record in engineering
  • Pragmatic thinker with strong communication skills
  • Project management skills and hands on mentality
  • A high aptitude for understanding how technical applications interact with one another
  • A keen interest in financial markets, trading and technology
