Job Description

Are you ready to lead a team dedicated to upholding the highest standards of food safety and quality? Join us at Valeo Foods UK, located in Heanor, where we create our infamous mix of Christmas & Sponge puddings. We're seeking a passionate and experienced Site Technical Manager to champion excellence across our site.

As the Site Technical Manager, you'll play a crucial role in fostering a collaborative culture of food safety and quality excellence throughout our organisation. Leading our technical and operations teams, you'll provide direction, leadership, and support to ensure our systems and processes consistently meet the highest standards. Your dedication to continuous improvement will drive excellence across our site, enhancing customer confidence and satisfaction.

Leadership and Management:

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure food safety and quality are everyone's responsibility.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the site technical team, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the site's technical strategy and vision, leading technical innovation.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the team to build capability and ensure robust succession planning.

Standards and Compliance:

  • Drive a risk-based approach to managing food safety, ensuring compliance with customer policies and external certifications.
  • Manage internal audit programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee incident management and effective data-driven investigations.
  • Maintain quality management systems and ensure compliance with BRC and retailer codes of practice.

Quality Systems and KPI Management:

  • Measure, trend, and report against internal and customer KPIs to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and evolve the Quality Management System in line with industry advances and customer requirements.

Customer Engagement:

  • Coordinate and lead all customer visits and audits, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Build effective relationships with customers to meet their needs and develop robust quality plans.
  • Handle customer complaints and queries effectively, collaborating with commercial teams.

Learning and Development:

  • Define and implement food safety and quality learning and development programs.
  • Review team skills and expertise requirements, building capability and succession for the future.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Food Science or related discipline.
  • Experience in FMCG or similar environment, with team management experience.
  • HACCP Level 3 qualification and experience in retailer quality systems.
  • Knowledge of BRC compliance and audits.
  • Strong project management skills.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical advances and consumer trends.
