The Role
Job Description SummaryThe Technical Leader for Hot Gas Path (HGP) Value Engineering team is a newly created leadership position designed to elevate our technical execution from individual project delivery to a best-in-class cost muscle for GE Vernova. You will be responsible for defining the technical standard for the team, establishing Lean standard work, and acting as the primary strategic owner for Rare Earth Element (REE) utilization across the HGP portfolio. You’ll ensure that value engineering is not an afterthought, but a core component of early-stage design and long-term business strategy.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Technical Strategy

  • Strategic Rare Earth Element (REE) Ownership: Lead the HGP strategy for critical rare earth elements (e.g., Yttrium, Hafnium, Tantalum). You will own the technical roadmap for these materials, balancing performance requirements with supply chain resilience and cost volatility.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Extend REE strategies beyond HGP by partnering with Sourcing, Supply Chain, and other GE Vernova business units to ensure a unified approach to material risk and value.
  • Upstream Influence: Position Value Engineering as a critical contributor in early architecture and design conversations, influencing product outcomes before costs are locked in

Operational Excellence & Lean

  • Standard Work & Flow: Establish and enforce standard work and Lean principles to improve execution quality, speed, and predictability across the HGP Pod.
  • KPI Management: Define, track, and drive technical KPIs that measure the impact of VE initiatives on the business’s bottom line.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Technical Mentorship: Directly mentor and coach VE members through project reviews, fostering a culture of technical ownership and accountability.
  • Communication bridge between deep technical execution teams and non-technical stakeholders, framing complex problems with clarity and rigor.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Synergy Creation: Create strong operational links between VE Pods, Should Cost teams, and external GE Vernova organizations to amplify value delivery.
  • Partnership Transformation: Turn traditional cross-functional relationships into structurally embedded, value-driven partnerships.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, or Aerospace preferred) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Engineering, with a significant focus on Hot Gas Path (HGP) components.
  • Proven track record of leading complex technical projects and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Desired Characteristics

  • Specialized Expertise: Demonstrated technical experience working with rare earth elements (Yttrium, Hafnium, etc.) and understanding their global, political and supply chain challenges.
  • Lean Mindset: Deep understanding of Lean principles and their application in a highly technical engineering environment.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to connect technical execution to high-level business outcomes and multi-year roadmaps.
  • Change Agent: Experience leading culture change and building team confidence during organizational transitions.
  • Communicator: Exceptional ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for executive leadership.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
