The RoleWe’re seeking an exceptional Full Stack Lead Engineer to drive technical vision and execution across our backend services and frontend/mobile applications. This is a hands-on leadership role — you’ll architect scalable solutions, mentor engineers, make critical technical decisions, and write code that impacts millions of users.
You’ll operate across our full stack: from Kotlin/Spring Boot microservices and Kafka event pipelines, through TypeScript/Node.js APIs, to React-based web interfaces and our complete mobile application, built entirely in React Native.
What You’ll Do
Lead Technical Strategy & Architecture - Define and own the technical roadmap for full-stack features spanning backend services, APIs, and our React/React Native frontend ecosystem. - Make architectural decisions on scalability, performance, and maintainability. - Design systems that handle millions of concurrent users with high availability requirements. - Balance technical debt with feature velocity, making pragmatic decisions for long-term success.
Build & Code (60–70% Hands-On)
- Architect and develop complex, high-performance mobile and web applications.
- Own and scale our mobile app, written in React Native for iOS and Android.
- Develop backend microservices in Kotlin/Spring Boot, Python FastAPI and TypeScript/Node.js.
- Build event-driven pipelines with Kafka (producers, consumers, schema registry, exactly-once semantics).
- Develop and maintain GraphQL and REST APIs serving web and mobile clients.
- Write production-grade code that serves as a reference implementation for the team.
Lead & Mentor Your Team
- Provide technical mentorship and coaching to engineers at all levels.
- Conduct code reviews focused on quality, learning, and knowledge sharing.
- Identify skill gaps and create development plans.
- Drive engineering best practices: testing, observability, security, and documentation.
Collaborate Across Functions
- Partner with Product Managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Work with platform and infrastructure teams on deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
What We’re Looking ForExperience
- 8+ years of professional software development experience at product companies.
- 3+ years of deep, hands-on expertise with React.js and React Native.
- 3+ years of hands-on backend development with Kotlin (Spring Boot strongly preferred).
- 2+ years in technical leadership roles (Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or equivalent).
- Proven track record of building and scaling production applications serving millions of users.
Must-Have Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin/Java (Spring Boot) and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Deep knowledge of React internals (Fiber, hooks, reconciliation, rendering optimisation).
- Strong hands-on experience with React Native, including native modules and platform-specific code (iOS/Android).
- Advanced experience with state management at scale (Redux Toolkit, MobX, Zustand).
- Deep experience with event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL/Aurora) and NoSQL stores (DynamoDB, Redis).
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.
- Working knowledge of AWS (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, MSK) and Docker.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, CDK, Serverless Framework).
- Experience with monorepo tooling and shared build systems.
- Exposure to Kubernetes.
- Experience with the React Native New Architecture (Fabric/TurboModules).
