Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and marketing teams to define, architect, and build new features and enhancements for our platform, with a specific focus on best-in-class user experiences
- Define platform architecture and strategy to scale while maintaining high performance
- Maintain high code quality standards on the team with a focus on clean, maintainable, and scalable code
- Oversee and guide the technical work of contractor engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and engineering standards
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and provide mentorship where appropriate
- Help establish and refine engineering processes, tools, and workflows to improve team effectiveness and efficiency
- Evaluate third-party solution options and contribute to build-vs-buy decisions
- Act as the technical owner for key areas of the platform, monitoring platform analytics and performance and proactively identifying potential issues and areas for improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies, particularly with Shopify, and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- 5+ years hands on development experience with a focus on React
- 2+ years in an engineering team lead role
- Strong understanding of headless e-commerce and its applications; Shopify experience is a must
- Experience in a fast-paced, highly iterative product development process
- Ability to deliver high quality software in a team environment utilizing a scrum process
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Is able to self-manage, but can collaborate effectively
- Doesn't feel comfortable committing code without tests
- Strong front-end/JavaScript knowledge, React in particular
- Exhibits leadership qualities, including strong communications skills
- Located in the US (strong preference for East Coast), with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment
