What You’ll Do
● Customer Communication
o Communicate with technical experts to explain the critical issue(s) and solutions for implementation and break fix related questions
o Drive Customer Satisfaction through timely & quality communication for any critical situation where advanced support is needed
● Troubleshooting Skills
o Troubleshooting of customer reported incidents and system alerts in the areas of Database troubleshooting domain expertise
o Identify, debug and troubleshoot break fix issues for quick resolution
o Provide technical analysis for incidents, resolution, and root cause analysis for the incidents
o Respond and resolve issues within agreed service levels
● Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
o Publish knowledge articles for the incidents and service requests, prepare technical documents for the standard operating procedures
o Mentor and train other team members with tech solutions
WHAT YOU BRING
● 7-10 years hands-on experience in managing RDBMS like Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, Postgre
● Extensive hands-on experience in debugging issues with RDBMs
● Knowledge and experience in performance tuning, routine database maintenance activities like rebuilding tables, reorganizing indexes, optimizing indexes and tables for performance tuning
● Extensive knowledge and experience in writing optimized SQL queries and performance tuning
● Experience supporting the design, creation, and testing of databases
● Performing regular maintenance tasks, such as backups, defragmentation, and replication
● Diagnose and fix problems with connectivity, performance, and data integrity.
● Work with network administrators and application developers to resolve complex issues.
● Identify and resolve issues like slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention.
● Optimizing database performance and efficiency, and monitoring usage, response times, and other metrics
● Managing database access and permissions, and ensuring that only authorized users have access to sensitive information
● Developing and maintaining documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions
● Supporting Customers by resolving technical issues and troubleshooting queries
● Creating automation for repeating database tasks
● Recommending disaster recovery plans
● Support users and developers by resolving data-related technical issues and troubleshooting queries by guiding them with best practices.
● Execute regular database maintenance tasks, including database defragmentation, backups, and database replication.
● Optimize queries, stored procedures to increase server performance
End Point exposure/knowledge:
● Analyse and optimize SQL queries and database performance.
● Identify and resolve query-related bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
● Collaborate with database administrators and developers to improve query performance.
● Implement indexing, partitioning, and other techniques to enhance database efficiency.
● Monitor database performance and provide recommendations for improvements.
● Develop and maintain documentation for query optimization processes and best practices.
● Stay updated with advancements in database technologies and optimization techniques.
● Analyze SQL statements to determine why some are taking too long to run, and provide recommendations to optimize performance.
Preferred skills and qualifications
● Ability to use a scripting language (like Python or Peri) to automate database administration tasks.
● Relevant database administration certificates, such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA).
● Experience in cloud database technologies, like Amazon RDS or Microsoft Azure.
