Are you looking for an exciting opportunity as Technical Lead Software Engineer with the LCBO with our Warehouse Systems Team at our Durham Facility?  Then this role may be the next career step for you!

Reporting to the Senior Manager Warehouse Systems, you will be a senior member of the IT team, responsible for technical leadership and key domain expertise for a specific IT area or application. As the expert on this application competency, you will provide knowledge and guidance to the team and other senior IT and business professionals.

You will develop, implement and maintain larger scope and novel applications, including overall integration and data transformations ensuring the programming requirements are met. You will oversee the work of all developers and mentor them to develop capabilities and ensure programming, industry and LCBO standards are met.

About the Role

·         Subject matter expert – Be the subject matter expert for applications for a specific IT area or application. Explain concepts and strategies, and introduce and adopt new technologies, theories and methods. Assist users in solving programs, answer systems and application-related questions, validate and challenge resolution recommendations, and addresses/resolves escalated issues. Provide input from multiple systems perspective and ensure alignment with Industry Best Practices, and establish frameworks and methodologies for approaching assignments.

·         Analysis and design – Analyze current and new business and information systems requirements and design and integrate new applications (e.g., where no commercially available solution exits), including data transformations and programs for automatic correction of erroneous data following industry best practices. Ensure the design is flexible to accommodate business changes and is efficient, reliable and supportable to meet requirements.

·         Oversee work – Oversee work of all developers, including analysis, development of documentation, and testing components. Ensure developers code using modern development practices such as CI/CD, and agile methodologies and use test-driven development and automated testing. Coach team members to develop capabilities and evolve skills and capacity. Validate and challenge resolution recommendations.

·         Documentation – Oversee the creation of high-quality documentation for related applications/programs following LCBO’s documentation policies, procedures and standards. Provide strategy for knowledge transfer to ensure team members can support software.

·         Coding and testing – Develop a new technical solution/working application within established timelines, incorporating modern technologies, programming languages, development tools and industry best practice. Design test scenarios in collaboration with developers and testing SMEs to validate that testing aligns to outcomes. Test code to ensure reliability and that LCBO security standards are met. Ensure developers use test-driven development and automated testing frameworks

About You

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science/Programming or an equivalent of related education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in configuring and customizing Manhattan WMOS and Manhattan MAWM products for large DCs.
  • Experience in leading WMS Go live on large scale DCs.
  • LM and slotting experience will be preferred. MHE and WMS integration experience will be desirable.  Relevant experience of integration with SAP TMS or any equivalent TMS. Some experience on SAP S/4 will be preferred.
  • At least 5+ years of experience capturing and documenting requirements/Development/ Configuration/Solutions Evaluation/ Validation and Deployment.
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams, overseeing their work and mentoring them.
  • Proficiency in some of the following technologies:
  • Java, JavaScript, XML, JSON, Python, SQL, Jenkins, GIT, Octane, ALM, Kafka, digital commerce platform and mobile development Restful APIs, or specific technologies for the domain (i.e. WMS, F&R, TMS, ERP, LIMS, etc)
  • Systems Development Methodologies (e.g. IDEs, IntelliJ, Eclipse)
  • Knowledge of modern data integration technologies (event-driven, change data capture)
  • Expert in decomposing problem, planning, and testing
  • Collaborative team player – work with colleagues to identify problems, creating root cause analysis and develop solutions
