About this roleWe’re looking for a Tech Lead to help shape the future of developer experience at Flipdish as part of our Platform Enablement Team - empowering product teams to move fast and build with confidence.
The Platform Enablement team blends Platform and Enabling team types and interaction modes (inspired by Team Topologies). The team’s mission is to reduce friction for product teams by abstracting away lower-level infrastructure, enabling smooth adoption of technologies, and building the right guardrails and paved path across AWS and our internal developer experience.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to deeply understand developer workflows, help teams succeed through reusable patterns and automation, and build the foundations that make engineering at Flipdish more joyful, effective and resilient.
In this job, you’ll…- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads across our stream-aligned teams, with support from an Engineering Manager
- Partner with engineering teams to understand their challenges and design empowering solutions that abstract complexity and improve developer experience.
- Lead architectural decisions and help evolve our Golden Path - shaping how we build, deploy, observe, and scale services across Flipdish in AWS.
- Contribute hands-on to the codebase, we lead by doing.
- Take ownership of specific services as they are extracted from our monolith, and help other teams do the same by providing shared patterns, tooling, and architectural guidance that promote a transition toward modular, event-driven systems.
- Act as a multiplier by mentoring engineers, driving best practices, and fostering knowledge-sharing across teams.
- Identify friction points and build enabling constraints or platform features that nudge teams toward scalable, secure, and consistent patterns.
- Champion automation in everything we do, from scaffolding and deployments to observability and security.
- Help teams across Flipdish adopt AI tools and capabilities - identifying valuable use cases and making it easier for others to explore, prototype, and safely integrate AI into their workflows while staying within clear technical and ethical guardrails.
- Previous experience been in a technical leadership role, with real-world experience setting direction and influencing teams.
- 8+ years of development experience. We use TypeScript and C#.
- Proven ability to work across the full stack, owning and evolving infrastructure and developer tooling.
- Solid experience in AWS, particularly with core serverless technologies (e.g. Lambda, DynamoDB), and a track record of building reliable, scalable systems. Azure experience is a bonus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills - the ability to build trust across teams and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Experience mentoring engineers and helping grow a strong engineering culture.
- A proactive problem-solver who thrives in ambiguity and can distil complexity into pragmatic, scalable solutions.
- Strong alignment with platform thinking - you’re passionate about reducing cognitive load for product teams and helping others succeed.
