We are seeking a Tech Lead to join the LAWnB Korea team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the cutting edge of AI and legal research technology in Korea. As part of the LAWnB Development Organization, you will support technical leadership in developing next-generation professional solutions leveraging AI technology. You will be responsible for technical strategy formulation, architecture design, and team management for innovative AI-powered systems including RAG systems and Deep Research technologies in the legal and compliance domains. You will collaborate with global technical teams to deliver high-business-value AI solutions.

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Technical Lead, you will:

  • Define and execute the technical and AI strategy for platforms supporting legal research in Korea, aligned with broader product and business goals.
  • Act as the technical authority for AI system design, architecture, and implementation decisions, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic and multi-step reasoning workflows, natural language understanding, summarization, question-answering systems, and LLM-based architectures.
  • Own architectural direction across backend services, AI pipelines, infrastructure, and data layers.
  • Lead technical roadmap planning, technology evaluation, and proof-of-concept development.
  • Provide hands-on leadership through design reviews, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
  • Help uplevel and build high-performing engineering team in Korea through coaching on design/code quality mentoring, and knowledge-sharing
  • Establish and continuously improve modern engineering practices and measurable outcomes: trunk-based development, automated testing and CI/CD, code health standards, observability and incident response, DevSecOps practices, and documentation quality; track progress with DORA metrics and retrospectives/kaizen reviews.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, raising engineering quality, productivity, and technical rigor.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, AI/ML, and global engineering teams to ensure cohesive delivery, and represent the Korea engineering team in cross-regional technical discussions and initiatives.  

About You
You're a fit for the role of Technical Lead if you have the following required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience using modern technology stacks, such as Python, .NET, Java, React, TypeScript, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), relational and vector databases, and version control/CI/CD pipelines.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building AI/ML systems, including LLM integration (e.g., GPT, Claude, Gemini), RAG system design, optimization and evaluation, vector search and semantic retrieval, and prompt engineering and LLM orchestration frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience leading projects or teams in a technical leadership capacity.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating secure, production-grade web systems.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline design.
  • Experience working with cross-cultural, bilingual teams in Korea; able to facilitate meetings and produce documentation in both Korean and English, and to align local practices with global standards.
  • Fluency in Korean and English, both written and spoken.

 

Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • Fine-tuning or customizing language models.
  • Operating AI systems at scale in production environments.
  • Deep familiarity with security-by-design principles and remediation practices.
  • Experience formulating and executing long-term technical strategies.
  • 2+ years of people management experience (hiring, performance reviews, compensation input) with a demonstrated track record of upskilling teams and raising engineering quality through modern development practices.
