As Manager, Technical Inside Sales for Emerson's Appleton Group, you will lead the Technical Inside Sales organization supporting our Engineered-to-Order (ETO) product lines. You will be responsible for leading and developing a team of technical inside sales professionals while driving operational excellence across quotation development, order execution, customer support, and commercial processes for highly engineered solutions.
In this role, you will establish performance expectations, develop talent, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will partner closely with Engineering, Pricing, Manufacturing, Customer Care, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Outside Sales to deliver accurate, timely, and technically sound solutions while improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the inside sales organization.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Lead and develop the Technical Inside Sales organization, establishing clear performance expectations, coaching and developing employees, managing team resources, and building a high-performing culture focused on accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Drive operational and commercial performance by establishing and monitoring key performance indicators, improving quote turnaround time, quotation quality, order execution, productivity, customer satisfaction, and overall service levels.
- Ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and competitive technical solutions by maintaining compliance with customer specifications, company policies, and applicable industry standards throughout the quotation and order lifecycle.
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve complex technical, commercial, and operational challenges, working closely with Engineering, Pricing, Manufacturing, Product Management, Customer Care, Supply Chain, and Outside Sales while serving as a key escalation point for customer and business issues.
- Drive process improvement and organizational efficiency by standardizing workflows, leveraging business systems, improving data integrity, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that increase scalability and effectiveness.
- Provide actionable business insights and support strategic initiatives through performance dashboards, reporting, forecasting, and analysis while partnering with leadership on organizational change, business growth, and initiatives that enhance the customer experience.
- You establish clear responsibilities and performance expectations while creating an environment where individuals are accountable for delivering results.
- You build collaborative partnerships across functions and leverage diverse perspectives to solve customer challenges and achieve business objectives.

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Technical Sales, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in Technical Inside Sales, Quotations, Customer Service, Engineering Support, Commercial Operations, or a related technical commercial role.
- Previous experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or developing employees or cross-functional teams.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex engineered products and customer applications.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- 10% of travel required
- Leadership experience managing a Technical Inside Sales, Quotations, Customer Service, or Commercial Operations organization.
- Experience supporting Engineered-to-Order (ETO)/customized solutions, configured products, or other highly engineered technical solutions.
- Working knowledge of hazardous location products and applicable industry standards, including NEC, IECEx, and ATEX.
- Experience collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, Pricing, and Sales organizations.
- Experience with Oracle, Vendavo, CRM, ERP, or other business systems.
- Experience developing operational dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.
