JOB SUMMARY:
Continuously improve processes, coach and develop employees, comply with and enforce all safety policies/procedures, meet all quality and productivity standards and deliver quality product to internal and external customers, audit standard work and processes, monitor daily production for quality and on-time delivery and take immediate corrective action to remedy any deficiencies. This role will direct, support, and collaborate with Research and Development, Manufacturing, Technical Support, Continuous Improvement, material suppliers, Product Marketing, Purchasing, and Customer Care teams.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate professional relationship between CWG and finish supplier representative
- Manage vendor development and transition work
- Lead development of new product with Product Marketing team
- Lead training, equipment development, and process alignment between AWP plants
- Manage Custom Color Match program with Marketing/Sales teams
- Ownership of new finish development
- Work with Technical and Quality resources from internal and external resources on continuous improvement activities and Samples
- Assign and coordinate work, assist with employee selection, review employee performance, resolve employee issues and administer company policies in assigned department.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of the department to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality and promoting safety, plant housekeeping and employee morale.
- Ensure all job-related accidents or injuries are reported and documented by those responsible, and take appropriate corrective action in an expeditious manner.
- Recommend equipment upgrades, staffing adjustments, and process modifications.
- Inspect product to verify product standards and specifications are met.
- Provide technical and behavioral coaching and development to employees.
- Manage and drive departmental performance measures articulated in the Manufacturing Operating System (COS), including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to management.
- Track absenteeism and timekeeping in Kronos.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce material and labor costs.
- Accountable for all aspects of ISO 14001/QMS compliance within assigned area.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field; or 5 years previous leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in lean tool knowledge and application.
- Fundamental knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen activities and Six Sigma processes.
- Demonstrated successful leadership, including personnel and organization development.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within department and across the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with external customers.
- Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence, and initiative without daily interaction with management.
- Demonstrated successful capability to resolve conflict over sensitive or complex issues.
- Demonstrated successful ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Successful experience in employee training and development including that of peers and subordinates.
- Experience with measurement of performance to goals and standards.
- Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Experience with manufacturing software systems.
- Able to routinely lift 40 lbs.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Exposure to systems controls such as ISO 140001.
- Green Belt Certification or comparable problem-solving certification.
