Job Overview:
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the occupant
protection and safety DNA of VinFast vehicles. As a senior technical
expert, the successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering safe,
robust, and compliant seat and restraint systems, influencing vehicle safety
performance from early CAE development through to production sign‑off.
Experience
- Expert in seat
systems and occupant restraint systems, including:
- Seats
(structure, mechanisms, foams, trim, comfort and durability)
- Seatbelts
(pretensioners, load limiters, anchorage systems)
- Airbags (front,
side, curtain, knee, centre airbags)
- Deep technical
knowledge of airbag and seatbelt system design, integration, and
optimisation for occupant protection.
- Strong experience
guiding development from CAE / simulation phase (airbag deployment,
belt force management, dummy interaction) through to physical testing and
vehicle-level validation.
- Proven ability to
troubleshoot and resolve complex restraint and seat-related issues under high-pressure, time-critical development conditions.
- Solid
understanding of occupant injury criteria, dummy behaviour,
restraint timing, and system interactions.
- Experience
correlating CAE results with sled and full vehicle crash test data,
driving model improvements and design countermeasures.
- Strong
understanding of how seat and restraint systems interact with BIW,
interior trim, and vehicle packaging.
- Familiarity with global
safety regulations and consumer test requirements (e.g. UNECE, FMVSS,
Euro NCAP, US NCAP, IIHS, BNCAP, ASEAN NCAP).
- Proven capability
to define, review, and enforce design rules, standards, and best
practices for seats and restraint systems.
- Experience capturing and deploying lessons
learned into standards and future vehicle architectures.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical
authority for seats and restraint systems across VinFast vehicle
programs within the vehicle quality division
- Provide expert
guidance from early CAE and concept phases through detailed design,
testing, and validation.
- Lead and support
resolution of all major seat-, airbag-, and seatbelt-related issues,
particularly during critical program phases.
- Drive root-cause
analysis and define robust corrective actions for issues identified during
simulation, sled testing, or full vehicle crash tests.
- Support
optimisation of restraint system timing, load paths, and occupant
interaction to meet regulatory and consumer performance targets.
- Work closely with
Safety CAE, Test, BIW, Interior Trim, Packaging, and Manufacturing teams
to deliver fully integrated solutions.
- Review and
challenge designs, simulations, and test results to ensure robustness,
repeatability, and long-term quality.
- Define, review,
and continuously improve technical standards, design rules, and
development processes for seats and restraints.
- Provide clear, authoritative technical input to
senior leadership on risks, trade-offs, and mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical
Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 15–20+ years of experience in seats, restraint systems, and occupant safety
development within industry-leading OEMs or Tier‑1 organisations.

with strong systems-level understanding.
- Ability to lead and influence without direct line
management, operating effectively as a senior technical authority.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of
clearly explaining complex safety and restraint topics under pressure.
- Structured, analytical, and decisive approach to
problem solving.
