Position Summary:

Our General Manager for the Testing business at Perforce is searching for a Technical Evangelist to join the team. This role serves as a vital link between the company's technology capabilities and our customers' needs, driving business growth and innovation by ensuring that the company's products and services align with customer requirements and market demands. The position involves directly engaging with customers and partners to foster growth and innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Engagement and Advocacy
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and production teams to reshape the market's view of the Testing suite offered by Perforce. This can be achieved through:
  • Initiating and nurturing podcasts and other broad-reaching social media engagements.
  • Actively participating in market analyst inquiries and providing compelling product demonstrations.
  • Producing and distributing thought leadership materials such as webinars, seminars, conference speeches, and engaging booth content at industry events.

  • Technical Evangelism & Industry Thought Leadership
  • Stay informed about market trends, including both competitive enterprise solutions and open-source initiatives. Gather presales feedback to offer strategic technology consulting. Use insights to advise product management and development teams on roadmap planning, backlog prioritization, and strategies for market differentiation.

  • Feedback Collection and Product Innovation
  • Lead by example in adopting new product capabilities, whether in beta or general availability, by mastering and demonstrating their value. Refine demonstration techniques based on real-world feedback and share these insights as training materials with the field teams.

  • Best Practices Development
  • Craft and disseminate best practices tailored to each product's unique use case and market-differentiating features. Support presales teams by illustrating the most effective ways to demonstrate the solutions, enhancing the likelihood of technical success. Collaborate with product management and documentation teams to integrate these best practices into general product guidelines and professional services offerings.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Conduct thorough analyses of technical losses in opportunities to identify underlying causes. Provide actionable recommendations to relevant teams, aiming to mitigate future losses. Focus areas should include:
  • Addressing product deficiencies.
  • Enhancing presales enablement.
  • Influencing marketing content to best support sales efforts.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years in software engineering or DevOps roles
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of the software industry and the specific technology domain of the company's products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a technical audience.
  • Experience in creating and delivering compelling presentations, demos, and content that resonate with the market.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships within the industry.
  • Ability to mentor technical teams and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong collaboration with engineering, product, and sales teams.
  • Willingness to travel to attend events, meetups, and conferences.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High adaptability and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Business acumen to align technical vision with company goals.
