Job Summary

The Technical Electric Metering Specialist I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting electric metering operations focusing on learning foundational metering principles, safety practices, and company procedures while assisting more experienced specialists and technicians.  This role builds foundational skills to perform analysis of meter installation issues, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electric meter and related systems.

What you will do

  • Provide support regarding meter installations and service interruptions.

  • Support troubleshooting of simple metering issues, escalating complex problems to higher-level specialists.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of meter work performed and meter inventory.

  • Learn and follow safety protocols and company standards for electric metering.

  • Assist in major project construction execution, and scheduling information

  • Assists with annual testing programs, IUC requirements and other regulatory work.

  • Access and update rubber goods data in electronic records management systems.  This includes, but not limited to, inventory management and ordering of rubber goods.

  • Participate in training sessions to develop technical knowledge and skills.

  • Participate in safety initiatives and contribute to a safe work environment.

  • Performs in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.

  • Associate Degree Electrical Systems Preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic understanding of electric metering principles and equipment.

  • Proficiency with computer software programs (e.g. e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets) for documentation and reporting.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Pay Range:

$59,000 - $72,000

This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
