Job Description

As Technical Director, Digital GCC, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the technology pillar of the Global Capability Center (GCC), reporting to the Director, CDM GCC. You will be responsible for scaling the GCC from a delivery and support centre into a high-impact innovation and engineering hub that drives measurable business value.

Your role will operate in a highly collaborative, global environment and leads diverse teams across software engineering, cloud platforms, AI/ML, DevOps, solution architecture, program management, and delivery excellence. The Technical Director partners closely with cli ents, regional and global leadership, sales and commercial teams, technology alliance partners, and other delivery and software business units.

Your role will combine strategic vision, deep technical credibility, operational rigor, and people leadership, with a strong focus on engineering excellence, innovation, and talent development.

You will report to the DIRECTOR, GLOBAL CAPABILITY CENTRES CDM and have a hybrid schedule working out of Electronic City, Bengaluru, India.

Your Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Alignment: 

  • Define and execute the technical and engineering roadmap for the Digital GCC in alignment with global strategy and headquarters priorities.
  • Drive the evolution of the GCC beyond execution and support toward innovation, ownership, and co-creation of value for the business and clients.
  • Provide thought leadership on digital, cloud, and AI-led transformation initiatives.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a large, multi-layered organization of engineering managers, software engineers, architects, data scientists, and DevOps specialists.
  • Build a culture of high performance, accountability, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
  • Develop leadership bench strength, succession plans, and career paths aligned with long-term capability growth.

Engineering Excellence

  • Champion modern engineering practices including Agile / Scaled Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, cloud-native architectures, and GenAI-enabled development models.
  • Establish and enforce coding standards, architecture governance, security best practices, and quality metrics across teams.
  • Continuously improve software delivery speed, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

Innovation & Emerging Technologies

  • Identify, evaluate, and adopt emerging technologies such as AI/ML, GenAI, data platforms, and cloud-native services to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Sponsor proof-of-concepts, accelerators, and Centres of Excellence (CoEs) to drive innovation at scale.

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Act as a key liaison between the GCC and global stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, delivery commitments, and technical direction.
  • Build strong client relationships, contribute to pre-sales and solutioning, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, including customer survey outcomes.
  • Partner with Sales, Commercial, and Regional teams to support growth initiatives.

Operational Excellence

  • Define, track, and govern KPIs related to productivity, engineering quality, delivery predictability, cost efficiency, and team health.
  • Drive operational discipline across planning, execution, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Talent Acquisition & Capability Building

  • Partner with HR and leadership to attract, recruit, and retain high-quality technical talent.
  • Build and scale specialized Digital and Engineering Centres of Excellence aligned with business needs and future technologies.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • 18+ years of experience in technology and engineering leadership roles.
  • 5+ years in senior leadership roles within a GCC, large global technology organization, or matrixed enterprise environment.
  • Proven experience scaling teams and managing complex global stakeholder ecosystems.
  • Strong foundation in software development (e.g., Python, Java, modern frameworks).
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Solid exposure to AI/ML, data platforms, and modern digital architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse, and high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills across cultures and geographies.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability and change leadership experience.
  • Ability to connect with, inspire, and motivate a young, high-potential workforce.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Cloud and/or Architecture certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Agile / DevOps / SAFe or similar methodology certifications.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML or GenAI solutions into enterprise platforms.
  • Experience working in high-growth, digital transformation, or startup-like environments
