We’re looking for a Technical Director – Botany to join our Ecology team in Perth.

Our Environment business has maintained strong growth in recent years and is currently one of the largest groups in WA, being a leader in impact assessment and approvals, planning, terrestrial ecology, marine, air and noise assessment services. Our diverse team contributes to a wide variety of projects, with a strategic focus on resources, energy, critical minerals, infrastructure, and Defence at a regional, national and global scale.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • You will be involved in technical review and assurance of deliverables.
  • Preparing and providing high-level review of technical reports and documentation to support referrals and environmental assessments.
  • Scoping and leading biological surveys throughout Western Australia.
  • Leading and contributing to winning proposals to support business growth.
  • Travel throughout the state to undertake surveys, often in remote locations for extended survey periods.
  • Conducting complex biological surveys and assessments, providing technical direction where required.
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry and regulatory requirements for ecology and approvals.
  • Making technical decisions and providing solutions based on expertise.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to ecology team members, including mentoring and oversight of technical work.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships, supporting repeat work and growth opportunities.
  • Contributing to business development activities and representing GHD in the market where appropriate.

What will you bring to the team?

  • Bachelor degree qualification in environmental science or ecology discipline.
  • 10+ years’ relevant ecology experience, within Western Australia preferred but not mandatory.
  • Current driver’s licence (C class), manual preferred.
  • Proven experience in and a sound understanding of current environmental issues and legislation.
  • Strong experience in proposal development, project delivery and working as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and mentoring junior team members.
  • Ability to deliver critical project outcomes under pressure with enthusiasm and drive.
  • Strong client engagement skills and ability to contribute to business growth.
