Your Role
As a Gensler Technical Designer, you will blend creativity and technical expertise to deliver high-performing, functionally beautiful spaces while collaborating with office and regional leaders to drive project outcomes and improve processes. You’ll work on some of the most exciting projects in the live events industry. These high-profile, fast-paced projects call for strong leadership, sharp instincts, and real-time decision making, creating an ideal environment to grow through problem solving, collaboration, and mentorship.
What You Will Do
Collaborate with our Sports team to deliver informed project solutions based on market expertise and an understanding of client goals
Documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustic, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)
Coordinate with the project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants
Resolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions
Direct production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasks
Responsible for delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality
Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIs
Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project
Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of project
Review and contribute to proposals and contracts with the Design Manager
Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships
On the path to licensure preferred
Your Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design from a professionally accredited program
4-8+ years of related project experience, including demonstrated success and/or interest working on sports projects
Strong organizational, creative, and collaborative skills, with the ability to work independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously
Strong graphic, visualization, and presentation skills to effectively communicate design ideas
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Rhinoceros (Rhino) required; experience with Grasshopper for parametric design workflows preferred.
Additional proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite expected. Familiarity with real-time visualization tools (e.g., Enscape, Lumion, or V-Ray), reality capture software is a plus.
Passion for sustainable design practices and interest in pursuing certifications such as LEED, Fitwel, or similar sustainability credentials

*The estimated base salary range for this position in the Washington, D.C. is $71,000- $92,000, plus eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
