Technical Design Assistant

Commercial Sewing is seeking a Technical Design Assistant to support the development and production of innovative marine and powersports products. In this role, you'll help transform design concepts into production-ready products by managing technical data, supporting pattern development, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.

What You'll Do
As a Technical Design Assistant, you'll be an important part of the product development process by:
- Maintaining and updating product specifications within the Vantage system.
- Managing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensuring documentation remains accurate and current.
- Creating, modifying, and maintaining mini patterns using the Gerber pattern design system.
- Supporting product development projects from design through production.
- Collaborating with engineering, patternmaking, and production teams to resolve design questions and improve product quality.
- Assisting with technical documentation, product records, and process updates.
- Conducting time studies and collecting production data to support process improvements.
- Helping coordinate research, testing, and development activities.
- Ensuring design and production information is accurate, organized, and accessible.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn technical software systems.
- Good mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Basic blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Knowledge of patternmaking principles and sewing terminology.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Gerber, CAD, or other pattern design software.
- Background in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Apparel Construction, or Patternmaking.
- Experience in a manufacturing or sewn-products environment.
- Understanding of fabrics, materials, and product construction techniques.
