We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our life sciences and healthcare technology consulting team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the design and implementation of modern data pipelines and infrastructure that support data-driven insights for pharmaceutical and biotech clients. The role focuses on building scalable, reliable, and governed data solutions using tools like Python, SQL, and cloud platforms, with secondary exposure to data visualization and analytics. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions that support strategic decision-making.
About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data analytics, or consulting roles
- Proven expertise in building scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and cloud-native solutions
- Strong programming proficiency in Python and SQL, including data wrangling and transformation, with experience using PySpark and Databricks for large-scale data processing
- Hands-on experience with Power BI and other data visualization tools such as Spotfire, Tableau, Seaborn, or Plotly
- Strong understanding of data quality, validation, and governance principles

- Prior experience working in the life sciences or pharma sectors (preferred but not compulsory)
- Wider experience with AWS, Azure or GCP data engineering tools for insights generation, analysis and storage.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or analysts and fostering team capability development
- Familiarity with AI/ML workflows or experience supporting data science teams (nice to have, not essential)
- Understanding of compliance and privacy standards like HIPAA, GDPR, or other industry frameworks (nice to have, not essential)
What will you be doing in this role?
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to support downstream analytics and reporting
- Ingest, integrate, and transform structured and unstructured data from various sources (e.g., APIs, databases, files)
- Automate and optimize repeatable data workflows for performance and scalability
- Implement validation and governance checks to ensure high data quality and consistency
- Collaborate with analysts, consultants, and stakeholders to shape well-modeled datasets for visualization and decision support
- Build lightweight dashboards or data prototypes using BI tools or Python-based libraries, when needed
- Contribute to documentation, engineering templates, and reusable components to enhance delivery efficiency
- Participate in project scoping, estimations, and solution design discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders
About the Team
This is a technology consulting team within Clarivate’s Life Sciences and Healthcare Consulting division. We specialize in creating bespoke solutions that leverage data and technology to solve strategic problems for pharma and biotech clients. Our team manages the entire delivery lifecycle—from business development and discovery to architecture, implementation, and deployment.
We work across a modern tech stack including Python, SQL, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, dbt), and data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI). Our work spans data engineering, analytics enablement, regulatory intelligence, and reporting automation. The team is small, cross-functional, and agile, with a strong emphasis on innovation, quality, and collaboration.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position based in Bangalore, operating in a hybrid mode. Working 2–3 days per week in the office is compulsory. Flexibility in working hours is essential, as we collaborate with internal teams and clients across multiple time zones.
