What you’ll do at Elekta
As a Technical Author, you will be part of the Research and Engineering function to support the growth of Elekta’s business and constant innovation in patient care, this is an exciting role for an experienced Technical Author to support the creation of technical publications and information for our internal and external customers.
A dynamic and motivated team player with experience of producing high-end technical graphical content for product documentation and literature, you will work as part of the Global Information Development team, with specific responsibility for content supporting Elekta’s Treatment Planning product range. The role will be based in Helsinki, managed by the Head of Information Development, based in Crawley, UK. You will be a self-starter and able to work independently, you will be results driven and able to interpret information requirements into clear, concise content to be used in our suite of product manuals.
The role requires collaborative working with other functional areas of Elekta’s global business, in addition to third party suppliers to bring our technical content in line with latest information systems and industry standards.

Your role will include (but not limited to):
- Responsible for writing high-end technical product documentation in accordance with project requirements, local and global company policies and emerging engineering change requests.
- Collaboration with multiple stakeholders to map and interpret documentation requirements and elicit information from subject matter experts across Research and Engineering to inform content development.
- Collating and interpreting design information to create intuitive, consumable content for our internal and external customers, to support product release.
- Responsible for planning and coordinating all activities to meet the customer and business requirements.
- Effective management of the delivery of solutions to agreed timescales. Recognition of project risks and ability to manage and/or escalate these risks to the project team and functional management, where appropriate.
- Identification and collation of evidential documentation to support internal and external audit requirements as and when required.
- Initiate and support translation activities with the localization team for any content development projects you are assigned to.
- Ability to take on editorial tasks as and when required.
- Undertake other tasks as requested by the Team Leader and/or Technical Publications Manager
- Ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings and technical data.
- Ability and enthusiasm to learn new software and illustration techniques as and when required.

What you’ll bring

- Minimum of Degree or equivalent experience in a scientific, software technical, or life sciences environment required.
- Experience with XML-based authoring tools is essential, Ixiasoft CCMS would be highly advantageous.
- Demonstrable Competence in DITA XML, XML and Adobe FrameMaker is highly desirable.
- Competent using Microsoft Office/Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Visio.
- Experience of working in an Agile project environment would be advantageous.
- Previous experience of working with medical imaging systems hardware and software would be highly advantageous
- Previous work experience in a life sciences environment would be advantageous
