Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Architect with a primary focus on Adobe Commerce and related Commerce systems/platforms/3rd Parties. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both low-level and high-level technical architecture for Commerce systems, providing technical guidance, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. This role is critical to the successful delivery of our commerce solutions, ensuring technical excellence and adherence to best practices. Leadership in collaborating, documenting & communicating “what good looks like” in our project, product, functional approach so we drive efficiency, consistency & quality across our works.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Technical leadership of the development team in the design, development, and deployment of Adobe Commerce solutions.
  • Architecture Design: Define and document high-level and low-level technical architecture for Adobe Commerce projects, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Solution Implementation: Oversee the implementation of technical solutions, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and project requirements. Contributing to pitches, new business and help steer the growth of accounts from a technical perspective.
  • Technical Guidance: Offer expertise and guidance on all technical matters, including , coding best practices, and technology selection, to ensure optimal solutions are implemented. Proven track record in architecting, documenting and ability to delegate delivery of appropriate solutions to complex challenges.
  • Code Reviews: Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, alignment with architectural guidelines and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Performance Optimization: Establishing a set of KPIs relating to site performance as a key success factor for customer projects and measurement of team performance and optimizing both front-end and back-end performance
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and design patterns.
  • Innovation and Best Practices: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in e-commerce and Adobe Commerce, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Lead troubleshooting efforts and resolve complex technical issues that may arise during development or deployment. Provide guidance and support to the team in overcoming technical challenges.
    • Can be hands-on with development when needed to assist with complex bug fixing or new solutions
    • Understands and can explain version control and the strategies for this.
    • Understands and can implement/support Docker and other solutions for local development environments.
    • Can use their experience to guide debugging of solutions/challenges which they may have no direct experience with.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a technical development role, leading developer resources (FE & BE), while successfully delivering complex software projects.
    • Leads by example, encouraging the team to follow best practice and to innovate.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Strong technical expertise in software development and extensive experience within Adobe Commerce, but a wide range of technologies and working methods is key.
    • Experienced and confident with Adobe Commerce Cloud
    • Highly experienced with designing low-level technical architecture for frontend and backend systems
    • Able to articulate the pros/cons of different technologies and best in practice methods of implementing.
    • The benefits and drawbacks of composable, headless and monolith approaches to eCommerce
    • Common security concerns in web applications and how to avoid them
    • Integrating with third-party systems (e.g. WMS, ERP, CRM, CMS)
    • Proficient in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other relevant technologies. Strong understanding of server-side and client-side technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Experienced in client-side and agency environments.
  • Proactive and self-driven, with a passion for innovation and staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
