Then join the team behind Benefits-Plaza, Keylane's all-in-one Employee Benefits platform that connects employers, insurers and payroll providers across the Netherlands.

As a Technical Application Engineer within our Technical Application Management (TAM) team, you are responsible for the availability, performance, security and continuous improvement of the Benefits-Plaza platform.

You'll work closely with experienced engineers and act as a technical expert for one of our most important SaaS solutions. This is a hands-on role where infrastructure, middleware, security and automation come together.

You'll regularly balance operational continuity, customer expectations and security requirements while making sound technical decisions under pressure.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Drive the resolution of complex platform incidents and problems, ensuring timely recovery while acting as the technical escalation point for internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Monitor the Benefits-Plaza platform and proactively resolve operational issues, including resource bottlenecks, application outages and middleware failures (e.g. disk space, CPU usage and Tomcat availability).
  • Contribute to daily operations: handling service requests and standard changes, following agreed ITIL processes.
  • Managing service requests and standard changes in line with ITIL processes.
  • Managing web service integrations, including networking, whitelisting, security configuration and end-to-end technical validation.
  • Planning and executing maintenance activities, including patching and upgrading technologies such as RHEL, DB2, Tomcat and related components.
  • Managing the lifecycle of client and server certificates, coordinating renewals and secure deployments.
  • Lead the technical execution of external audits, penetration tests and disaster recovery exercises by preparing technical evidence, coordinating activities and driving remediation where needed.
  • Driving automation and standardization by improving runbooks, scripts and operational tooling.
  • Optimizing monitoring, capacity management and operational dashboards to improve platform reliability.
Key about your team

Together, we:

  • The team consists of highly skilled IT professionals with strong expertise in infrastructure, databases, middleware and security, combined with deep knowledge of the Life & Pension domain.
  • Work with standardized processes for migrations, implementations and operations, and continuously refine our way of working based on experience and feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative culture where ownership, innovation and continuous learning are encouraged, and everyone has the opportunity to make an impact.

Requirements

You recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or a related technical field.
  • You have 5+ years of experience in technical application management, infrastructure operations or a similar role managing business-critical applications.
  • You are experienced in managing application servers such as Apache Tomcat and have a solid understanding of their interaction with networking, security and the application stack layer.
  • You have practical experience with security hardening, patching and vulnerability management, especially in regulated or audited environments.
  • You are familiar with certificates (PKI), networking and firewalls, and know how to work with concepts like whitelisting, proxies and load balancers.
  • You can script and automate (for example with PowerShell, Bash or Ansible) and are comfortable working with monitoring and deployment tools.
  • You are analytical, structured and pragmatic, able to quickly understand complex situations and define clear next steps.
  • You are a communicative team player: You work closely with colleagues and stakeholders and can translate technical issues into business impact.
  • You like working in a dynamic, fast-growing environment and think in solutions.
  • Experience with Oracle, WebLogic and Windows Server is considered a plus.
  • You will grow into taking more ownership of incidents and changes, and after a proper onboarding and training period, you will be part of the standby/on-call rotation.
