The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of chemical wood preservatives, regulatory frameworks, and product performance standards, and will be comfortable interfacing with third-party agencies, customers, and internal teams.

  • Provide technical guidance on product specifications, building codes, and regulatory standards to architects, specifiers, contractors, and commercial partners.

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure technical accuracy in promotional materials and literature.
  • Represent KPC in interactions with third-party agencies, certification bodies, and regulatory organizations.
  • Coordinate product testing, certification renewals, and documentation required for compliance and market access.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and ensure product alignment with evolving requirements.
  • Support the Research & Development team in evaluating new formulations, performance testing, and field trials.
  • Provide market feedback and technical insights to guide product innovation and improvement.
  • Review and manage product warranties, ensuring clarity and consistency across customer segments.
  • Investigate and resolve product claims in collaboration with quality assurance and customer service teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of claims and resolutions for internal reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the development and review of technical literature, brochures, and digital content.
  • Ensure all marketing materials reflect current product specifications, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives by identifying markets for business growth and obtaining market intel to support business initiatives in conjunction with appropriate Koppers business units.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Construction Science, or related field; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, product support, or regulatory affairs within the chemical, building materials, or wood treatment industry.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, product certification processes, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., AWPA, ICC, EPA).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing customer inquiries, product claims, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with wood preservation technologies and treatment processes.
  • Experience working with third-party testing labs and certification agencies.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and document review.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for customer visits, industry events, and agency meetings.
