The Role
Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Manager
Rapid7 is looking for a detail oriented and technically strong individual to join us as the Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Manager. In this position you will play a critical role in determining the accounting treatment for complex accounting transactions and SEC Reporting process.
About the Team
The Technical Accounting team at Rapid7 supports external reporting, complex transactions, acquisitions and new business ideas. The Technical Accounting and SEC reporting Manager will drive on time financial reporting to cross functional teams across Rapid7.
About the Role
This role will be responsible for driving on time financial reporting and aligning cross-functional teams related to accounting and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with publicly traded US listed companies, strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and procedural optimization, to ensure effective delivery of technical accounting guidance and SEC Reporting documents.
As a Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Manageryour primary responsibility will be supporting and owning key parts of the SEC reporting process involving the preparation and review of the Company's Form 10-Q, 10-K, and related SEC filings (8-K's, proxy statements, etc.). Specifically, your focus will be to:
  • Maintain and enhance operation accounting within NetSuite and ensure best practices related to SOX compliant documentation of workpapers and reconciliations.
  • Liaise with external and internal auditors and manager audit deliverables.
  • Draft footnotes, MD&A, and other disclosures. Research trends in external reporting and make recommendations that ensure compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP disclosure requirements
  • Oversee the assessment, implementation, and communication of all technical accounting topics and new accounting pronouncements impacting the Company
  • Provide technical guidance to the accounting team and work closely with other functions on SEC and technical accounting matters
  • Responsible for share-based compensation accounting including month-end close procedures through journal entry preparation and account reconciliation, as well as EPS calculations
  • Assist in the performance of impairment testing of goodwill, intangible and long-lived assets, including evaluation of potential impairment indicators
  • Identify opportunities to streamline SEC reporting via automation or other options
  • Support Sarbanes Oxley compliance process related to equity and financial reporting
  • Develop, review, and maintain corporate accounting policies

The Skills You'll Bring Include
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting + CPA
  • 4-7 years of progressive experience in an audit / assurance role with SEC clients at a 'Big 4' public accounting firm and/or industry experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with research and preparation of technical accounting positions for complex transactions and general corporate matters
  • Experience collaborating with sales and legal teams, including cross-functional initiatives that include direct and indirect reports
  • Experience with Netsuite, Workiva, and FloQast are a plus
  • Capacity to learn quickly and execute accurately
  • Extensive Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Exceptional organizational, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels at the Company
