Position Summary 

This role leads technical and business engagement with Japanese original equipment customers. The Technical Account Manager coordinates global engineering, quality, manufacturing, product, program, and commercial teams to support customer needs from new business development through launch and post-launch improvement. The role is the primary customer-facing technical contact and helps ensure clear, consistent, and customer-focused communication across Clarios. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Act as the primary technical sales contact for Japanese OE and OES customers, including customer engineering and purchasing teams. 

  • Translate customer needs, product requirements, and technical concerns into clear internal priorities and actions for Clarios teams. 

  • Lead One Voice communication by aligning customer messages, technical positions, priorities, and response timing across global functions. 

  • Support RFIs, RFQs, customer documents, release processes, technical deliverables, and customer portal activities. 

  • Coordinate timely resolution of customer engineering concerns, open issues, quality topics, design change requests, and post-launch technical activities. 

  • Partner with product engineering, product management, program management, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to evaluate product fit, business opportunities, and customer value. 

  • Influence customer technology direction and support long-term customer relationships through trusted engagement. 

  • Share customer process knowledge and technical expectations with internal stakeholders to improve customer centricity and execution discipline. 

  • Support warranty teardown, competitive reviews, special testing, or other technical investigations as needed. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Chemistry, Electrochemistry, or a related technical field. 

  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience. 

  • Experience as a customer-facing technical interface for automotive OEM or Tier-1 customers. 

  • Strong ability to influence customer decisions, align internal priorities, and drive cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships, including with senior customer stakeholders. 

  • Native-level Japanese and advanced English communication skills, including clear verbal, written, and presentation communication. 

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, prioritization, and execution skills. 

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline. 

  • Experience in battery, energy storage, electrochemistry, product launch, engineering development, or automotive technical programs. 

  • Experience working directly with Toyota, Toyota Group companies, or major Japanese OE customers. 

  • Experience in engineering leadership, program management, product management, or technical account management in a global matrix organization. 

  • Knowledge of automotive design, development, validation, launch, and customer approval processes. 

  • Proactive, resilient, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing under pressure while maintaining professional communication. 

  • Team-oriented working style with strong business fundamentals and disciplined follow-through.
