Purpose: This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church.

Technicians are responsible for the collection, sorting, processing and bundling of scrap and waste materials that are created as part of the manufacturing processes of the MMD Print Division. Typically, these materials consist of pre-consumer paper-type goods but may also include cardboard, leather, plastics, etc.

Responsibilities

80%Techs will also collect and transport large bins of waste materials from various parts of the facilities by means of pushing/pulling bins weighing several hundred pounds or by mechanical means such as pallet jacks and fork lifts.

20%Technicians assist with the free flow operation of the waste collection systems, continued maintenance of processing equipment, shredders, bailers and compactors.

Recycling techs are required to work whenever any production equipment that creates a waste byproduct is in use which is usually a 24/6 operation.

This position will report directly to the division Recycling Technician Lead.

Qualifications
  • Able to push, pull, lift, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and assist with, or receive assistance for, loads exceeding 50 lbs. 

  • Previous forklift experience required. Must obtain and maintain forklift certification. May also be required to work from man lifts and elevated platforms. 

  • Climb steep stairs and ladders, access machinery in confined spaces, and work at heights of 60 feet or more. 

  • Safely operate and maintain highly sophisticated and potentially hazardous equipment. 

  • Speak, read, and understand English. 

  • Work courteously and effectively with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, ethnic, and professional backgrounds. 

  • May be required to work alternating shifts to ensure adequate coverage and support production schedules. 

  • Experience operating shredders, balers, compactors, or similar mechanical equipment strongly preferred. 

  • Two years of manufacturing or production experience preferred.
