Purpose: This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church.

Technicians are responsible for the collection, sorting, processing and bundling of scrap and waste materials that are created as part of the manufacturing processes of the MMD Print Division. Typically, these materials consist of pre-consumer paper-type goods but may also include cardboard, leather, plastics, etc.

Responsibilities

80%Techs will also collect and transport large bins of waste materials from various parts of the facilities by means of pushing/pulling bins weighing several hundred pounds or by mechanical means such as pallet jacks and fork lifts.

20%Technicians assist with the free flow operation of the waste collection systems, continued maintenance of processing equipment, shredders, bailers and compactors.

Recycling techs are required to work whenever any production equipment that creates a waste byproduct is in use which is usually a 24/6 operation.

This position will report directly to the division Recycling Technician Lead.

Qualifications
  • Ability to individually push, pull, lift, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. and assist or receive assistance for loads weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to become and maintain forklift certification; previous forklift operating experience is a plus. May be required to work from man lifts and raised platforms.
  • Ability to climb steep stairs and ladders, access machinery located in confined spaces, and work from heights in excess of 60 feet.
  • Able to safely operate and maintain highly sophisticated and potentially hazardous equipment.
  • May be required to work alternating shifts to ensure proper coverage and maintain production schedules/requirements.
  • Must have at least 2 years of manufacturing/production facility experience.
  •  Previous mechanical experience and operating balers highly preferred.
