What You’ll Do
As Tech Lead for the Merchant Domain, you will be the point engineer and technical leader for a platform that powers how our merchants engage with Koalafi. This domain is essential to enabling merchant growth and satisfaction through great tools, insights, and operational control.
You will be responsible for building, modernizing, and scaling systems that:
- Support seamless merchant onboarding
- Allow merchants to view and manage customer applications
- Provide reporting dashboards that drive business insights
- Enable pricing configuration and real-time updates
- Manage merchant-specific configuration settings
- Power merchant communications and engagement workflows
- Help Koalafi teams engage merchants to grow their sales
As the technical owner of this space, you’ll collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, and go-to-market teams to define and deliver the roadmap. You’ll remain hands-on with development while shaping the domain’s architecture and team over time. As the team grows, you’ll also take on people management responsibilities—supporting the growth and development of engineers, providing regular feedback, and helping build a high-performing, engaged team.
About You
- 4-year Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of professional experience building production systems
- Deep knowledge in Golang, .NET, and React with TypeScript
- Experienced in cloud-native architecture using AWS and Kubernetes
- Have led modernization of legacy systems or greenfield builds for scalability
- Know how to collaborate with product and design to shape end-to-end solutions
- Enjoy building long-term technical roadmaps and mentoring others
- Excited to grow and manage a small team as the domain expands
- Location Requirement: This position requires regular in-person attendance at one of our two office locations (Richmond, VA or Arlington, VA). Candidates must already be located within a commutable distance to either location, as relocation assistance is not available at this time.
