We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead who will not only drive technical delivery but also lead a mature, high-performing team, ensure operational excellence of existing systems, and oversee budgets, planning, and resource allocation for ongoing support activities.

What will you be doing?

• Lead and support an established, experienced development and support team, ensuring stability, motivation, and continuous skills growth.

• Take ownership of team capacity planning, task allocation, and delivery oversight, ensuring commitments are met on time and within budget.

• Maintain and enhance production software environments for major Australian warehouse customers.

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for global clients, coordinating with international teams across multiple time zones.

• Manage day-to-day operational decisions for ongoing support, ensuring service continuity and smooth coordination with customer operations.

• Drive improvements in processes, standards, and tooling to support the long-term evolution of the software landscape.

• Participate in a structured on-call support roster (additional allowance provided).

Your Challenge & Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Delivery Management
  • Lead an already established team of developers and testers, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Oversee resource planning, workload distribution, and prioritisation across support and enhancement workstreams.
  • Manage team budgets, including forecasting, cost control, and approval of resource-related expenses.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables through adherence to coding standards, QA practices, and documentation guidelines.
• Software Development & Enhancement
  • Drive and Contribute to the development of software enhancements, upgrades, and new features for existing customer systems.
  • Work within Vanderlande’s established software architecture, frameworks, and databases to design and deliver solutions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing across the team.
• System Support & Maintenance
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize warehouse control syestem (WCS) installed across customer sites.
  • Perform root cause analysis for incidents and ensure timely resolution of issues impacting customer operations.
  • Support and troubleshoot live production environments, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system performance.
  • Participate in incident escalations, implement solutions, and deploy fixes into production systems.
• Customer Engagement & Service
  • Collaborate closely with in-house 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level service teams both locally and overseas.
  • Liaise directly with customer technical and operational teams through online channels to resolve issues and ensure smooth system operations.
  • Provide on-call support by participating in a structured roster, ensuring critical issues are addressed outside standard working hours. [On-call Support allowance for this work is paid separately from salary]
• Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
  • Work alongside team members and technical specialists across the wider Vanderlande organisation to learn, contribute, and ensure solution quality.
  • Document incident resolutions, fixes, and enhancements to maintain knowledge repositories for internal and customer use.
  • Ensure compliance with software engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes.
• You will be based in our Pune office.

Your Background 

The successful candidate will have the following :

• Tertiary qualification in an IT-related field or equivalent.
• 10–15 years of relevant work experience, with strong exposure to maintenance and improvement of existing systems.
• Proven experience leading or managing mature engineering teams (international environment beneficial).
• Experience working with global clients and navigating complex stakeholder landscapes.
• Logistics or warehouse automation domain knowledge is a plus.

Technical skills (Mandatory)

• Core Java
• JSP
• Angular (for front-end development)
• Spring Boot

• C# or .Net (Nice-to-have)
• Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
• Docker
• Kubernetes
• Experience in maintenance of existing software applications and continuous improvement (brownfield development).
• Experience in version control.
• Understanding of Test-driven development (TDD)

Soft skills (mandatory)

• Proven leadership experience in managing and developing multidisciplinary teams in an international, technical environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills (English).
• A committed personality and a team player.
• This role involved customer-facing support also. We need a quick decision maker who can communicate with the customer and drive the day-to-day work for Warehouses.

Highly regarded (optional)

• Experience in the setup of automated tests and deployment chains (CI/CD) is highly appreciated
• Experience with issue tracking tools(Jira).
