Technical Lead (Java)
Overview:
The File Transfer team within the Platform Services group designs, builds, and operates the technology that powers Mastercard's market-facing and core platforms. The team enables secure, high-performance file transfers to and from customers across Mastercard's global business.
We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Dublin-based team, with a focus on building and operating our Global File Transfer platform. This platform underpins secure, seamless data movement across Mastercard's global infrastructure, including Mastercard's next-generation switch.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead engineering efforts within a globally distributed team, driven by a shared passion for delivering resilient, scalable solutions for our customers.
Role:
• Design, implement, review, document, and test software components and subsystems to meet world-class global engineering standards. • Translate technical specifications into detailed designs that are scalable, secure, and operable• Ensure code is maintainable, well-structured, and fully traceable through disciplined use of version control and peer review practices.• Partner with Product and Operations to scope and prioritize future work, and to triage and resolve operational issues efficiently. • Drive execution to ensure deliverables are completed on time, meet quality and reliability standards, and support operational excellence.
All about you:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.• Strong hands on Java experience with components such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate• Strong experience with database technologies Oracle & Postgres• Experience working with global teams and advanced written and verbal communications skills• Experienced with working in distributed version control such as GIT Flow and with agile methodologies• Experienced in delivering resilient commercial grade software globally• Experience with distributed computing and event driven architectures• Understands gaps in knowledge with a passion to learn• Ideal candidate has experience with cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure
