Ready to make a serious impact? Millions of people already rely on Calendly, and we’re still in the midst of exciting product growth — it’s a fantastic time to join us. Everything you’ll work on here will accelerate your career to the next level. If you want to learn, grow, and do the best work of your life alongside the best people you’ve ever worked with, then we hope you’ll consider allowing Calendly to be a part of your professional journey.
Calendly’s Scheduling group is responsible for the core experiences that power how millions of people book, manage, and join meetings. We’re modernizing the Meetings Page and surrounding workflows, building richer UIs, and evolving our architecture toward a service-oriented, federated GraphQL world.
We’re looking for a frontend-leaning Full Stack Engineer who loves crafting delightful, accessible, and performant user interfaces, and who is also comfortable working across backend APIs and services. You’ll report to an Engineering Manager in the Scheduling group and own end-to-end experiences that span from React components down through our API layer and services.
You’ll help define and build the next generation of Calendly’s scheduling experience while keeping quality, reliability, and simplicity at the center of everything you ship.
A day in the life of a Full Stack Engineer at Calendly
On a typical day, you will be working on:
- Own end-to-end features across the stack, with a strong emphasis on frontend: from collaborating on UX flows and designs, to building React/TypeScript UIs, to wiring those experiences into backend APIs and services.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other engineers to break down problems, refine requirements, and ship incremental value behind feature flags and experiments.
- Contribute to backend APIs and services: extend existing endpoints or services (e.g., in Node.js or Rails), design new data contracts, and ensure that backend changes are observable, well-tested, and resilient.
- Write automated tests across the stack (unit, integration, and UI tests) to protect critical user flows and keep regressions out of production.
- Review code and technical designs, giving and receiving feedback that raises the bar for clarity, maintainability, and performance.
- Mentor and coach other team members.
What do we need from you?
We’re looking for someone who is strongest on the frontend, with solid backend experience and curiosity to go deeper where needed. In this role, you will spend the majority of your time coding and architecting systems, while simultaneously raising the bar for frontend development on the team.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience at a SaaS or technology company with a strong focus on UX engineering and design systems
- Significant experience with modern frontend development, including:
- Building complex, production-grade UIs with React and TypeScript.
- Comfort with state management, routing, forms, and asynchronous data fetching (e.g., Redux Toolkit, RTK Query, or similar patterns).
- Strong grasp of CSS-in-JS or modern styling approaches, component libraries, and design systems.
- A focus on performance, accessibility, and responsive design.
- Hands-on backend experience, such as:
- Implementing REST or GraphQL APIs in Node.js, Ruby on Rails, or a similar web framework.
- Working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and understanding how schema and query design affect performance.
- Familiarity with service-oriented or microservice architectures, including how frontend and backend collaborate across service boundaries.
- Ability to work closely with designers, PMs, and other engineers; you explain tradeoffs clearly and can drive decisions to closure
- Proven ability to deliver complex projects on time, including delegating to other engineers and cross-team collaboration.
- Experience using AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, etc.) as productivity tools, with a clear understanding of generated code and the ability to defend implementation choices.
- Availability for participation in an on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours.
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time.
