The Process Technician III is responsible for overseeing that all molding presses are running at standard rates, with correct number of cavities, and that products conform to quality specifications. Assures that all work performed by self or other technicians on all shifts is performed in accordance with established processes, procedures, and practices.

Schedule: 12-hour shift, Monday–Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.–6:00 a.m.; Thursday, 5:30 p.m.–10:00 p.m.; plus weekends as needed.

 Sub-Function Description:

The Process Tech III is to remove and install molds, auxiliaries and EOAT (End‑of‑Arm Tooling) safely, efficiently, and repeatably, ensuring all utilities are connected; while maintaining accurate records so production can resume with minimal downtime. 

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  • Assist Production Supervisor and Process Engineer in the activities of setting priorities on machine startups and troubleshooting problem areas.
  • Provide direction and/or coordinate color changes, completion of work orders and new startups.
  • Ensure maintenance of molds is performed according to instructions and schedule.
  • Ensure all molds are properly tagged and work orders written for molds pulled on all shifts.
  • Collect start up and shut down samples from each mold and deliver parts to Quality Assurance.
  • Inspect mold change set ups on all shifts to ensure equipment, materials, and mold set ups are correct and press is ready for startup. Also, prepare, update, and maintain set-up sheets.
  • Drive accountability for ensuring cycle information, downtime codes and scrap codes are accurately coded into the Vorne System.
  • Ensures machines and molds are cleaned, and resins and colorants are labeled and returned to the compounding area at the completion of a production run.
  • Coordinates and communicates with Maintenance and Tool Room on work orders that have been written to ensure the presses/molds are repaired and back into production with a timely period.
  • Assists Shift Supervisor in ensuring Mold Hangers and Process Technicians follow proper safety procedures during the operations of molding presses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Type:  Full-time, Non-Exempt

Knowledge & Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Experience working in a plastic manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use machining equipment, tools, and measuring devices.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
  • Mechanical knowledge or experience.
  • Ability to read and understand multimeter AC/DC/Ohm
  • Injection molding experience, RJG, Robots, Etc.

Communication & Influence: Communicates with contacts typically within the immediate work unit on matters that typically involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation.

Problem Solving & Complexity: Problems and issues faced are routine and solutions clearly prescribed. Follows a well-established and familiar set of activities and/or process to derive a solution. May have responsibility for checking data and information for minor changes.

Physical Demands:

  • Wear safety attire and protective gear daily.
  • Usually work indoors/Outdoors. This site may not be temperature controlled.
