We are looking for a hands-on Team and Engineering Lead with Full-stack Ruby on Rails expertise for a brand new AI product features mission team within the ManageBac product. This is an exciting role to shape the future of AI within the product and partner closely with Product, Design, and the AI Platform teams to drive fast-paced innovation.

What will you do- Lead a small, autonomous product team of developers, QA, Product, and Design to ship high-impact features
- Manage the software engineers on the team and support their growth and development
- Own the end-to-end delivery: from technical discovery, architecture, and development, to launch and iteration
- Partner with Product and Design counterparts to identify and drive product initiatives
- Integrate and experiment with AI-powered features (e.g., using OpenAI, vector search, or LLM APIs) to deliver smarter user experiences
- Ensure the team delivers high-quality, secure, and performant code at speed
- Run team sprints and retrospectives, self-organizing around goals and owning delivery
- Maintain and improve team-owned services, monitor metrics, and fix bugs related to your product area
- Prior experience leading a team and managing individuals
- Experience or exposure to building AI features
- Solid experience building modern web applications with Ruby on Rails, with at least 5 years of proven experience
- Familiarity with front-end technologies — HTML, CSS (SASS), JavaScript — and experience with either React.js or Stimulus JS
- Comfortable designing and querying PostgreSQL or MySQL databases
- Experience working with background processing tools like Sidekiq or DelayedJob
- Exposure to cloud services such as AWS (especially S3)
- Confident with RSpec and writing well-tested, maintainable code
- Strong understanding of REST, MVC, and general web architecture principles
- Comfortable with GitHub, CI tools, and fast iteration cycles
- Clear, async-first communicator with strong English skills
