The purpose of this role is to proactively lead the National Self-Insurance claims team, driving high-quality claims outcomes and contributing to the achievement of broader business unit and organisational objectives.

As the Team Manager, you will provide leadership, guidance and support to a team of Case Managers and Senior Case Managers, driving strong claims outcomes, team performance and stakeholder relationships.

As a senior leader, you will also play an important role in supporting the broader day-to-day operations of the Perth team, while acting as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders on complex matters, escalations and broader business requirements.

This role operates within a statutory environment and requires a strong focus on quality claims management, legislative and contractual requirements, stakeholder outcomes and portfolio performance.

This will be a full time, permanent position based in our Perth office, with work-from-home up to 2 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, coach and support a team of Case Managers and Senior Case Managers, providing clear direction, guidance and accountability to drive high-quality claims outcomes.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the claims team, including triaging new claims, allocating workloads and monitoring team and portfolio performance.
  • Provide strategic oversight of claims, reviewing files and ensuring appropriate strategies are in place to achieve positive claims and return-to-work outcomes.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for key stakeholders, internal clients and external providers, managing complex matters, escalations and expectations and providing strategic guidance where required.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, representing the Perth team and supporting the resolution of high-level claims, operational and service matters.
  • Identify performance gaps, risks and opportunities across the portfolio and implement appropriate strategies to improve outcomes and team performance.
  • Drive a positive team culture through coaching, development, communication and engagement, while supporting the recruitment and retention of high-performing team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and connected workplace and working with the broader business on local operational requirements.

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in a Team Manager, Team Leader or equivalent leadership role within workers compensation, personal injury or a Self-Insurance environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in workers compensation claims management, with the ability to provide strategic direction and guidance on complex claims.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop claims professionals and drive team performance and accountability.
  • Strong experience managing senior and complex stakeholder relationships, with the confidence to represent the business and manage high-level escalations.
  • Strong understanding of claims management, legislative and contractual requirements and portfolio performance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across a range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused leader with strong judgement, autonomy and the ability to manage competing priorities.
