About the Role
We're seeking someone to join our team as a team manger in Tokyo Collateral & Indications Operations to manage OTC derivatives collateral for Japan clients trading with Japan as well as UK and US affiliates of Morgan Stanley.
In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Manager position at Director level within the Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.

What you'll do in the role:
- Develop staff, lead projects and control deployment of resources, owning management tools/methods such as work queues, checklists, depth charts and calendars
- Set direction and expectations for your team(s), defining training plans and transfer of expert knowledge to contribute to team output and development
- Contribute to business plan for area, establish risk/contingency plans, raise and address issues with urgency when required
- Build and manage relationships with business unit partners, other Morgan Stanley infrastructure departments, and external contact points in Client or Market organizations
- Supervision and authorization of day-to-day functions of the team who processes margin call on back of ISDA-CSA, investigation and resolution of margin call amount dispute with counterparties and act as escalation point of client services
- Collaborate with the business in Japan to enable new businesses and start business with new clients
- Engage in global and local projects to enable market and regulatory changes, and to improve process efficiency
- Ensure Morgan Stanley's compliance with the local and global regulations such as non-cleared derivatives margining, through preparation of regulatory reporting as well as on-going monitoring
What you'll bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 6 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
- Strong relationship building skills serving as a role model for client service
- Ability to think commercially, understand the impact of initiatives, risks on the operational budget
- Experience in managing teams, enhancing control, continuous improvement and reducing operational risk
- Culture carrier and role model, representing and leading the Firm's core values to influence and motivate those around you
- Accountability to deliver on goals and commitments
- Strong analysis skills to identify process improvement opportunities or potential risk
- Ability to understand regulations including Japan Financial Instruments and Exchange Act (FIEL) and Global Regulations such as global Non-Cleared Derivatives Margining
- Language: Advanced Japanese speaking/reading/writing and business level English are required.
- Excellent communication, influencing and organizational skills in both Japanese and English.
- Good understanding of financial products, including equity/fixed income OTC derivative, FX products and basic knowledge of ISDA/CSA is a bonus.
