Job DescriptionTo oversee and manage the daily operations of the cash centre, understanding and reducing the overall risk associated with cash processing, and driving optimal performance to ensure that world class operational service standards are adhered to, thereby minimising risks and financial losses.
- Daily and weekly plan the schedules, logistics and Cash-in-Transit (CIT) routes ensuring safe and secure cash delivery service, minimising risks and financial losses. Manage the cash limits in the cash centre as set by the central bank and manage the treasury team to ensure adherence to limits set to mitigate risks.
- Manage the transactional processing of local and foreign cash by guiding team members to follow laid down procedures in terms of receive and dispatch of cash to mitigate risks and financial losses to the bank.
- Scrutinise all deposits and sign as verification of correctness. Manage discrepancies and anomalies in deposits by verifying all differences identified, record differences and advise relationship managers and client of difference timeously and agree on corrective action with client.
- Perform and execute the 4-eye principle by re-checking all cash encashments above levels and limits of authority and authorise all value referrals on the system within own levels and limits of authority.
- Execute spot checks on treasury controls to ensure strict adherence to security measures and procedures to mitigate risks to the bank. Ensure that laid-down instructions regarding the security, handling and movement of cash within the cash centre are strictly adhered to and take corrective action in the event of non-adherence to mitigate risks.
- Manage the teams to ensure that cash is balanced daily and that the cash is paid over to treasury and conduct a full check of team members where differences are evident. Ensure that all under counter teller units are empty of all cash and only contains the teller date stamp before locking away at end of day.
- First Degree Business Commerce or related from a recognised Institution
- 3-4 years demonstrated stakeholder and client relationship management experience. Demonstrated experience in identifying and managing risk and make required actions and decisions related to cash operations
- Experience resolving complex problems, with demonstrated ability to interact with vendors, external stakeholders and across multiple internal cross-functional stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience checking and interpreting data and information and utilising trends and insights to make data-led decisions
- Demonstrated experience in vendor and third-party performance tracking, management and resolution of service breakdowns
- Experience with quality control processes and standards, including how to implement and monitor quality assurance measures with vendors
