THE ROLE & THE TEAM
Zalando Workplace, a function within the Chief People Officer (CPO) organization and responsible for developing and maintaining the digital as well as the physical workplace for Zalando, is seeking a Team Lead for our Workplace PMO team, part of Workplace Strategic Development. In this role, you will lead a diverse team of 4+ project and program managers, guiding them to deliver high-impact initiatives that shape our digital and physical workplace environments. Your primary focus will be on enabling your team, coaching them to success, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Head of Workplace Strategic Development, you will also be closely involved in driving key programs to success, working alongside your team to overcome challenges, ensure alignment with strategic goals, and deliver quality results. You'll provide hands-on leadership when needed, empowering your team to take ownership while also directly contributing to the execution of critical initiatives that drive the evolution of our workplace at Zalando.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)
As a Team Lead Workplace PMO at zWorkplace, you will play a key role in shaping and elevating the impact of the Workplace PMO team, driving the successful execution of high-impact programs and projects. Leading a team of Program- & Project Managers, you will ensure delivery quality, align initiatives with strategic goals, and drive continuous improvement across initiatives.

Oversee complex programs and projects across the team, balancing operational oversight with leadership to drive delivery, achieve strategic objectives and by maintaining high standards of quality.

Structure and initiate complex programs or projects, taking ownership of the setup and enabling the project team by setting them up for success from the start. In some cases, you will lead individual projects personally, providing hands-on management where necessary.

Lead and support a team of Program Managers in delivering impactful projects and programs, guiding them in the right approach and empowering them to act decisively with a focus on quality and efficiency.

Utilize analytical thinking and business acumen to structure initiatives, address bottlenecks, and drive impactful results, guiding the team to prioritize high-impact responsibilities aligned with broader organizational goals.

Act as the operational counterpart to senior leadership, providing transparency on team performance, identifying delivery challenges, and implementing solutions that ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

You bring 8+ years of experience in program and project management within corporate IT environments, with a strong track record of successfully delivering medium to high-complexity programs, ideally with SaaS-based platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, other cloud solutions). You excel at navigating ambiguity and delivering results in fast-paced environments.

You have hands-on experience structuring, initiating, and leading complex programs and projects to success, with a deep understanding of different project management methodologies and the full project lifecycle.

Project leadership experience is crucial, with a proven ability to mentor and guide other Program and Project Managers. You ensure that teams make informed decisions, prioritize the right things, and continuously improve their delivery. Previous people leadership experience is a plus, particularly in leading cross-functional teams and driving alignment across departments.

You demonstrate strong leadership with a solution-oriented mindset, helping transform high-level strategy into actionable plans while considering the broader implications for the business.

You have a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at various levels, with a focus on transparency, problem-solving, and maintaining alignment with strategic objectives.

You are an innovator at heart, continuously looking for new ways to improve and adapt in a growing organization, applying fresh tools and concepts to drive efficiency.

You are a highly motivated team player, able to effectively manage conflicts and priorities with both teams and stakeholders, working independently and in a structured manner.

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German is a plus.
