About the Role

As the Team Lead – Testing Services at the Reserve Bank of Australia, you will lead a high-performing team of testing professionals. You’ll be responsible for mentoring and developing the team, embedding quality assurance and a culture of continuous improvement across the testing function.

Reporting to the Enterprise Testing Services Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with other Team Leads and stakeholders to drive innovation and operational excellence. You will also lead the uplift of test automation within ETS, help shape the Bank’s test automation strategy, and use Enterprise Test Automation Framework to integrate AI-driven testing capabilities, supporting the Bank’s strategic technology uplift.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with people management, offering the opportunity to influence the Bank’s technology landscape while mentoring and developing a team of skilled professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a centralized Enterprise Test Automation Framework (Java) integrated with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Puppet).

  • Provide technical leadership in automation architecture, tool selection, and framework enhancements using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit, SoapUI, JMeter.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and align long-term automation strategies, roadmaps, and best practices.

  • Oversee quality assurance activities for infrastructure and application projects, ensuring robust test strategies and governance.

  • Lead the implementation of AI driven testing capabilities.

  • Guide and mentor a team of 10–12 testing professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and high performance.

  • Drive the adoption of modern testing methodologies and tools to improve test coverage, efficiency, and reporting.

  • Partner with stakeholders across IT and business units to ensure alignment of testing objectives with broader project and organisational goals.

  • Contribute to the development of a high-reliability operating culture within the IT department.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in leading test automation teams and delivering enterprise-grade automation frameworks.

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Java based automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit, SoapUI, and JMeter.

  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration with tools like Azure DevOps, Jira, and Puppet.

  • Experience or strong understanding of AI-driven testing approaches.

  • Experience in designing frameworks with features such as unified data/config management, hooks, listeners, analytics, and dashboard reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and implement new tools and methodologies to enhance testing efficiency and quality.

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and drive change across teams.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
