About The Role

G2 is seeking a strategic, creative, and data-driven Team Lead for SEO Content to guide our growing SEO content function. In this leadership role, you will oversee the planning, production, optimization, and performance of high-impact content that supports G2’s growth across organic search, AI-driven discovery, and software buyer intent channels.

You’ll lead a team of SEO Content Specialists and partner closely with Technical SEO, Off-page SEO, Product Marketing, and cross-functional teams to deliver content that demonstrates topical authority, resonates with real readers, and reinforces G2 as the world’s leading software marketplace.

This role blends editorial leadership, AI-enabled content operations, and search strategy. You’ll champion content quality, workflow efficiency, and scalable publishing practices—helping us build an AEO/SEO engine that keeps pace with the industry.

This position reports to the Director, SEO Content

In This Role, You Will: 
  • Lead Strategy & Planning

    • Own the SEO content roadmap across assigned categories, aligning with business goals, search opportunities, and marketplace priorities.

    • Conduct and guide research around keyword clusters, search intent, SERP behavior, and competitive landscapes.

    • Translate insights into scalable content frameworks (e.g., listicles, comparison pages, review-driven assets, programmatic content, etc).

    • Partner with Technical SEO to refine content structures, schema, interlinking, and ranking levers to support long-term organic growth.

  • Manage and Develop the SEO Content Team

    • Lead, mentor, and support a team of SEO Content Specialists through feedback, coaching, and career development.

    • Provide editorial direction, strategic guidance, and clear expectations for quality, timelines, and output.

    • Foster a culture of craft excellence, curiosity, and data-informed decision-making.

  • Oversee Editorial Quality & Governance

    • Uphold high editorial standards across clarity, accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment.

    • Establish repeatable workflows and documentation for content creation, editing, QA, and publishing.

    • Collaborate with copy editors to ensure content meets G2’s voice, tone, and UX guidelines.

    • Drive refresh processes and manage the content lifecycle for evergreen SEO assets.

  • Advance AI-Enabled Content Operations

    • Optimize and manage AI-assisted workflows to ensure speed, quality, and consistency at scale.

    • Refine prompts, templates, and editorial systems for LLM-generated content.

    • Train team members on best practices for AI-augmented writing, ensuring efficiency without compromising quality.

  • Guide Performance, Analytics & Optimization

    • Monitor content performance using SEO tools, dashboards, and experimentation frameworks to optimize results.

    • Use data and feedback loops to refine content, recommend improvements, and identify new opportunities.

    • Partner with Off-page SEO to amplify content through external linking, distribution, and brand visibility.

    • Communicate insights, risks, and outcomes to leadership and adjacent teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4–7 years of experience in SEO content creation, B2B SaaS writing, or content operations.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to coach others and refine content to publication-ready quality.

  • Strong understanding of SEO principles, search intent, and the evolving landscape of AEO/GEO.

  • Experience managing content workflows, writers, or cross-functional content initiatives.

  • Ability to operate independently, juggle multiple deadlines, and bring clarity to complexity.

  • Strong project management and communication skills.

  • At least 1–2 years of experience guiding or mentoring writers or content teams.

  • Deep familiarity with modern SEO principles (E-E-A-T, topic clusters, programmatic SEO, content refresh strategy, etc.).

  • Proficiency with tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, GSC, GA, or equivalent analytics platforms.

  • Experience with LLMs, AI-assisted content creation, or workflow automation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or similar.

  • Basic CMS knowledge (HubSpot preferred) and light design familiarity.
