The Team Lead First Line Defense will assist the manager with the below responsibilities. The individual will assist the First Line of Defense (FLOD) staff as well as interact on a routine basis with Investor Servicing management teams possessing a thorough knowledge of Investor Servicing controls to assist with audits, Business Performance Reviews and P&P assessments.
The Team Lead will have strong communication skills, demonstrate the ability to research and resolve exceptions in a timely manner and collaborate effectively with internal and external business partners.
This individual will provide guidance and oversight to less senior team members and help create and build process documentation, automation, and analytical insights to ensure that we are consistently providing best in class service to our investors and customers.
The individual will work directly with the FLOD analysts to train the staff to understand the processes they are completing as well as any changes to existing processes.
- Assists staff with all FLOD-related requests such as, but not limited to, audits, business performance reviews and controls.
- Reviews prepared Business Performance Reviews (BPR) test results.
- Proposes solutions for future process enhancements based on BPR test results, P&P reviews and/or audit findings.
- Manages remediations, through to completion, in response to audit and/or business performance testing findings with respective departments.
- Strengthens policies and procedures to ensure the procedure reflects stated controls and current process.
- Coordinates with the department's management to address issues identified so that reoccurring process issues can be remedied.
- Maintains and follows procedures and job aids.
- Possesses an understanding of GSE servicing guides and a willingness to interpret pooling and servicing agreements.
- Uses Microsoft Excel heavily for data analysis and reporting.
- Handles ad-hoc reporting or research as directed by management.
- Demonstrates flexibility to ever-changing business needs and requirements.
- Performs related duties as assigned by management.

- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, preferred.
- 4+ years of Mortgage Servicing experience required.
- 6+ years Investor Reporting experience required.
- Advanced MS Excel experience required.
- Proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint.
- SQL or other database reporting experience preferred.
- Servicing Director knowledge a plus.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Solid analytical skills, particularly regarding assessing the probability and impact of an internal control weakness.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, learn quickly, be flexible and think strategically.
- Strong communication skills to interact with Senior Management and other business units.
- Working understanding of operational risks and related controls.
- Strong organizational and time management skills necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and shift priorities as appropriate to meet reporting deadlines and maintain reporting accuracy and analysis abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
