Position Overview:

The Teaching Assistant for Elementary Grades will support classroom instruction, enhance student learning, and foster a positive educational environment. This position requires a motivated and compassionate individual who will work closely with teachers to assist in delivering personalized instruction to students, ensuring they achieve academic success and develop essential skills specifically in math and reading.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Student Support:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in preparing and implementing lesson plans.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students as needed.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to the teacher.

2. Classroom Management:

  •  Help maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
  •  Foster student engagement through active participation in classroom activities.
  •  Assist with the management of classroom behavior, ensuring that students adhere to school rules and expectations.

3. Instructional Support:

  • Prepare classroom materials and resources to support the curriculum.
  •  Assist with the organization of classroom activities, including field trips and special events.
  • Utilize educational technology and tools to enhance learning experiences.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with teachers to assess student understanding and identify areas for additional support.
  •  Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

5. Administrative Duties:

  •  Assist with grading, record keeping, and other administrative tasks as assigned by the teacher.
  •  Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  •  Support the preparation of reports and documentation as needed.
  •  Lunch/Recess duties
  • School Beautification needs such as handing student work, or creation of bulletin boards
  • Support with Positive behavior support system
  • Support with inventorying, distribution, and organization of instructional materials
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required

Experience/Interest:

  • Prior Experience in an educational setting preferred, but not required
  • Interest in becoming a full-time teacher in the future.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in the welfare and learning of children.
  • Basic proficiency in educational technology and willingness to learn new tools.
  • Flexibility

Working Conditions:

  • 12-month employee
  • Work will be conducted in a classroom setting with potential exposure to noise and activity associated with young children.
  • Some physical activity may be required (e.g., assisting with physical activities, lifting supplies, etc.).
  • Summer work will include training, curriculum, classroom, and supplies support, varies duties as requested/required.
