Girard College continuously seeks to recruit certified top teacher talent in the areas of:  Secondary (9-12): Math, Science, Social Studies, English/Language Arts, Career & Technical Education, French, Spanish and Specialty (Art, Music, Health/PE, Reading) and teachers with endorsements in STEM and Social, Emotional and Behavioral Wellness. 


Our ideal teacher candidates will need to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction aligned to PA State Standards, work collaboratively with teachers in other disciplines as well as our residential staff who are responsible for overseeing after school advisory and program initiatives for our students. The position reports directly to the Principal of the High School.

Academic Achievement and Character Development:

  • Create a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment
  • Motivate students to achieve high academic and behavioral standards
  • Investment in students and families in order to achieve our standard for academic success, and to meet our Core Values
  • Utilize data to drive instruction and learning intervention
  • Design and implement unit and lesson plans in collaboration with grade/subject teams

 

A Mindset for Professional Growth and Development:

  • Collaborate with building leaders, instructional coaches, teacher leaders and colleagues to continuously improve instructional, culture-building and leadership skills
  • Participate enthusiastically in all professional development, instructional planning, teacher/residential collaborative team meetings, community meetings and MTSS meetings
  • Function as a school wide partner in helping to raise student achievement and character for all students in the school. Reinforcing school-wide expectations and volunteering to take on additional activities as needed to improve school academics and culture.

Education Background and Minimum Requirements
  • Teaching experience highly preferred with a proven record of high academic and social achievement
  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor’s degree in education, in the specific core content job area
  • Must possess a minimum of a Level I Instructional Certificate or above in the content area in which they are teaching from the PA Department of Education or must obtain Instructional Intern Certificate in the content area in which they teach within one year from date of hire.
  • Important Salary Information: the minimum starting salary for new teachers shall be determined by their completion of years of teaching / counseling experience and degree level. In accordance with the bargaining agreement.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in education in the specific core content area
  • Possess Level I Instructional Certificate (or higher) from PA Department of Education or obtain Instructional Intern Certificate within one year of hire
