Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the VFX and CG Supervisors to understand the artistic goals of the production, to set actionable roadmaps for the Production TD teams to follow.
- Reports on the technical health of the production and status of any ongoing development projects.
- Regularly examines user experiences, satisfaction, and level of understanding to identify areas of improvement to the production pipelines.
- Keeps up on current technology trends and tools (hardware and software) that best suit the production (and the company) in the development of a stronger creative technical environment.
- Coordinates with other departments to develop and implement solutions for the show using procedural techniques.
- Is responsible for the overall health of the Production TDs.
- Actively participates in meetings to set direction and creative goals, ensuring that technical requirements are met.
- Acts as the primary contact person and is responsible of the department.
- Collaborates and keeps fluid communication with other departments.
- Assigns the work to each team member according to skills sets.
- Gives guidance to the team, supervises the quality of the work, and works closely with production to complete deadlines.
- Partners with and TA to source and recruit the best talent in the industry.
- Mentors potential up-and-coming artists to guide them in their career paths.
- Acts as a company ambassador utilizing his/her extensive network in the industry, and plays a key role in selling the studio as a first-class place of work, maintaining ongoing relationships with key industry players, contributing to Skydance’s reputation.
Requirements
- 8+ years in VFX or animation industries.
- 4+ years of experience as a Lead in the animation industry.
- BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated advanced tools development experience in 3 or more of the following platforms: Maya, Houdini, Mari, Katana, Nuke, or Shotgun.
- Deep understanding of the 3D animation film production process, production pipelines and workflows (artistic and technical).
- Digital Processes and Technical Solutions Documentation.
- Practical knowledge in continuous delivery and agile methodologies.
- Advanced in Python and PyQt.
- Solid Software Engineering skills with an appreciation of software architecture code craft, and technical debt management.
- Advanced English level.
- Spanish oral and written skills are desirable.

Skydance Interactive creates and publishes original and IP-based virtual reality games. The division of Skydance Media was launched in 2016 through the acquisition of The Workshop Entertainment.
