Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of related experience in retail, eCommerce or item management.
- Previous experience cataloging and classifying materials preferred.
- Previous experience working with product attribute schemas and existing taxonomy is preferred.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
Job Summary
Responsible for connecting classification and attribution strategies to a best in class experience for our customers by building and maintaining the framework behind HD Supply’s taxonomy and attribute models. Power an intuitive navigation experience for our customers, making it easy for customers to find the product they’re looking for among our product assortment.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for the maintenance of data governance standards, processes, and tools necessary for the certification and management of item taxonomies.
- Identify and create the associated attributes or values needed to develop definitions for usage of existing as well as new product classifications or categories.
- Track, validate, and analyze taxonomy change requests from internal and external stakeholders through the pipeline.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the right attributes are identified without duplication.
- Perform market research and aggregate information across multiple sources to ensure the taxonomy standards are recognized across the retail landscape and aligned with the product strategy.
- Create the necessary internal and external documentation in order to promote efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Nature and Scope
- Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.
- May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.
Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. Generally 0-2 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 0-1 year of experience in a related field.
