General Purpose
The Tax Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization’s compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. This position ensures accurate calculation, reporting, and presentation of monthly and annual tax obligations, as well as the preparation of required documentation for tax refunds, compensation, and audits. The role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate tax records, supporting internal and external audits, and providing detailed analyses to ensure tax compliance and financial integrity.
Essential Functions
- Calculate and present monthly tax obligations and annual declarations in compliance with local and federal tax laws.
- Maintain detailed tax records and ensure timely submission of all tax reports.
- Prepare and file requests for refunds of taxes in favor of the company.
- Process tax compensation and reconcile accounts as necessary.
- Respond to inquiries and requirements from the Ministry of Finance and other tax authorities.
- Ensure all tax filings and reports meet statutory deadlines and audit requirements.
- Analyze and reconcile tax accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
- Identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Prepare and issue retention certificates and other tax-related documentation.
- Maintain organized and auditable records of all tax transactions and supporting documents.
- Calculate and document Safe Harbor positions in accordance with applicable tax rules and company policies.
- Support process optimization initiatives related to tax reporting and compliance.
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate updates to the finance team.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax calculation, reporting, or compliance roles.
- Prior experience working with the Ministry of Finance or similar governmental entities preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of local and federal tax regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
