ABOUT THE POSITION
Columbia Sportswear Finance & Accounting teams oversee the financial health and forward strategy for a portfolio of four global brands. These teams exercise expertise across Compliance, Credit, Financial Planning and Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Strategy. Advancing traditional Finance & Accounting functions, the organization is also driving exciting innovation in the application of advanced analytics and automated intelligence.
As a Tax Specialist II, you will provide support to the US Corporate Tax team. Here you’ll help manage the indirect tax compliance for North America. You will assist in reviewing state and local tax returns and sales tax accounting positions to ensure compliance with state and local tax laws. You will also review long-term indirect tax planning strategies and methodologies for continuous improvement and efficiencies within our team.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Accurately prepare and review all required sales tax filings (multiple entities) and ensure that the filings are submitted by the stipulated deadlines

Ensure that the Company’s sales tax positions are accurately accounted for, including the preparation of tax accrual account reconciliations

Assist in the preparation of Federal and approximately 150 state and local income tax returns under varying filing methodologies, including consolidated/combined, separate, 80:20, and partnership

Review of property tax returns and preparation of monthly/quarterly entries

Research, develop and document long-term tax planning strategies to minimize the overall cost to the company of various income and non-income-based taxes.

Ability to pay close attention to detail yet retain a “big picture” perspective.

Ability to operate at an advanced level on a computer with Windows based software, primarily Word and Excel.

Ability to multitask and help the team meet all departmental deadlines.
YOU HAVE
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting preferred

2-3 year’s experience preparing state and local tax returns in a variety of states

Possess an understanding of tax issues and compliance requirements at the state and local levels

Prior experience with tax research tools and tax software beneficial: RIA, BNA, OneSource

Understanding of and exposure to standard auditing procedures
