Tax Developer

About the Role

US Salary: $95K - $110K

april is looking for a skilled Tax Developer to join our team and help drive innovation in the tax technology space. In this role, you'll work on impactful projects such as developing barcode systems for tax forms, converting product requirements into structured XML schemas, and building tools that empower our tax analysts to work more efficiently.

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your attention to detail and problem-solving skills will help shape and refine tax return processing. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with both U.S. and international teams, contributing to the development of scalable, compliant, and high-performing tax software solutions. Team members residing within the New York City metropolitan area must maintain a minimum on-site presence of three days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement barcode generation systems for tax documents
• Translate Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) into accurate and maintainable XML schemas
• Develop internal features and tools that enhance the workflow of tax analysts
• Collaborate cross-functionally with global engineering and tax teams to refine and validate tax rules
• Ensure the accuracy, performance, and compliance of tax return logic through rigorous testing and validation
  

Experience

• A passion for structured logic code
• 2 - 3 years of experience with Python or equivalent
• College or professional certification in computer science - an advantage
• Previous tax software engineering experience - an advantage
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to maintain flexibility in an evolving work environment
• Self-learning individual with an entrepreneurial spirit, conceptual thinking, creativity and problem solving skills
